I suppose I suffer from PTSD on some levels from 14 years ago. Sometimes I regress back to that time, but for the most part, it's the internal dialogue in my head that struggle most with. Self hate, self doubt, constantly feeling as though I'm under attack, singled out.

Health.
Since childhood, I have been sick many times and frequented hospitals for various things.
Nothing has changed even now.
In saying that, grateful to the people who take care of me ,including the nurses , doctors and the hospital staff.
I have given blood in the past and now I cannot due to ongoing health issues.
But,giving blood is the greatest gift I feel.
You save a life.
My saluations to those who donate blood.

Social gatherings, especially large social gatherings. I find the noise they make rather unnerving. I don't drink so I don't have that to calm me down. There's this constant bub bub bub cheese & biscuits cheese & biscuits rhubard rhubarb going on...that's what it sounds like to me. It's much better if they spread out into the garden if it's not raining or cold...that's rather easier to cope with.
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@supersnipe Yes my husband avoids any social gatherings for all those reasons and more. As a mother who bought up 2 children i found a way to block out outside noise luckily.
TinyViolins · 31-35, M
I never really learned how to socialize, and at this point I doubt that I want to. Never seems like anyone has anything worth saying. I'm very likely going to age alone, which I don't dread in itself, but it is strongly associated with poor physical and cognitive health in older people, and I'm somewhat worried of the impact that will have on me.

@TinyViolins you are not alone...pets and now AI seem to fill the hole in many peoples lives
TinyViolins · 31-35, M
@1490wayb Yeah pets are amazing, but they're not so great at conversation. I've been on the fence around AI for a while, but I think it does have some promise.

@TinyViolins the phasing out has been happening since 2000 because of technology\gadgets

I think my biggest challenge is time management. The thing that has been the hardest to deal with or get over has been my constant dizziness that started in January 2022. the only reason I have gotten through it is because of regular acupuncture. I literally thought that my life was coming to an end.
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@Jenny1234 The dizziness and nausea, i can imagine time management definitely playing a factor.
Jenny1234 · 56-60, F
@Primnproper sorry I didn’t realize I hadnt elaborated on that. It’s long Covid.
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@Jenny1234 oh wow, so many were affected. It ruined so many lives. My daughters lungs were damaged from it too. It of been such a shock to the system.

What happened to my children and the loss of mobility. I can do something about the later and no control over the former.
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@dragonfly46 Being a parent is the hardest job, sometimes we have wins but probably a lot more loses along the way. Its taken me a long time to accept my debilitating mobility. I have good days and bad ones. I hope things get a bit easier for you.
ScreamingFox · 41-45, F
Parenting without help. No family, no friends. I want to be a good mom, but I worry constantly about not being enough.
Kstrong · 56-60, F
@ScreamingFox if you are doing your best, that's all you can do, breathe, forgive yourself.... If you do wrong by the kids, ask how you could have done different, ask their forgiveness, tomorrow is a new day...
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@ScreamingFox parenting doesnt cover everything in a book and even for those with help we don't always get it right. This is also a work in progress. We all try our best for our kids which is all we can ever do so dont beat yourself up so much.

Trying to raise a family in a good way while having a terminal illness is a special kind of mental torment/anxiety sometimes.
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@SwampFlower I so admire you because i can't even begin to imagine having to do that. I hope you have plenty of support.
SwampFlower · 31-35, F
@Primnproper I have tons of support and I am very grateful. Can’t imagine having to do this without my village. Thank you ❤

Presentations and public speaking to crowds. Concentration is everything but cracking a timely joke helps break up the tension, hahaha!

My last presentation was explaining the source equation of a chart where y=mx+b slope of the line in a statistical forecast using PowerPoint. There must've been 30 deers in the headlights in the room, but explaining it simply and step by step did the trick.
Gotta use discretion with the jokes tho.

@OldBrit A huge challenge my friend. I know it’s difficult. You can’t do it alone and have to want it bad enough..
Strongtea · 22-25, M
The things that I did when I was younger. I was a bully in school and now I find it hard to see anyone from that time.
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@Strongtea Who we were when we were younger doesn’t define us. It’s who we become and the road we travelled to get there. You’ve owned your past and that’s a great thing to do. Now let it go.
Strongtea · 22-25, M
Thankyou, I know we’ve spoken a little bit in the past about it. I suppose it’s different each day, sometimes the memories are much stronger. Your words mean a lot though, I will try to put it behind me.@Primnproper
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@Strongtea you should forgive yourself, you've tortured yourself long enough.
KimBras · 36-40, F
Finding clothes that fit that aren’t custom made and dealing with people who laugh at me because of my size.
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@KimBras Stuff what anyone else thinks, they don’t know the real YOU on the inside. Find the style that you feel your best in and go with that. When I was bigger than I am now I went for dresses that swept across the front or gathered to the side as they are more flattering. Learn your shape and lift your head and work it!👍

Or like trying to make a meal without a recipe.
You can keep trying and trying until you get it right. But that's going to be expensive and you might burn yourself a couple times.
If you have the money you can hire a cook to take care of it all.
You can cheat and pass some restaurant food to pass it as yours.
Or you can say, screw this, quit the kitchen and move to the mountains to leave off mushrooms and berries.

Being homeless in the richest country ever in the whole wide world! Cruelty for the fun of it, systematic cruelty, the most fun humanity ever had kind of cruelty, snickering murkans. The real deal breaker, God's social contract in flames.
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@Roundandroundwego I'm in the UK but totally understand your frustration. I had a friend over there that ended up homeless and it was a struggle but he eventually got help from a shelter place and built himself back up again.
Roundandroundwego · 61-69
@Primnproper shelter places here aren't really survivable, not meant to be. I'm doing great even compared to the average Americans in houses. Brutality is their only normality.
