The mobile phone.

It would have been wonderful for the rare few in or travelling through long distance places.
But look how it's been abused by employers and random irritating cold callers.

To say nothing of the industry it spawned, creating limited life electronic trash worthless within five years so causing the customer to constantly shell out for ever more.
Vin53 · M
@HumanEarth meh, they can go ahead and track me. I'll do my part to bore them into retirement.
exexec · 61-69, C
@Picklebobble2 I agree. If we had mobile phones when we were dating, my wife and i may not have married. I would have known when she was out with other guys and incriminating pics surely would have been sent to me. Ignorance was bliss for me.
HumanEarth · 56-60, F
@exexec Same for me

@mindstruggle very true.👍
drugs such as crack, meth, opioids,.......it's crippling society
@bijouxbroussard i was walking through a park near my apartment at 7am this morning. there are about a dozen homeless people that camp out there. there was this one guy in the middle of the parking lot higher than a kite, hunched over with his pants falling down. pretty sad sight to see, especially since i don't live downtown in the big city ...my city used to be much nicer
@beermeplease My city was once much nicer, too. People who don’t live here make jokes about it. But the origins of our homeless problem stem from our state hospital system (to which people from all over the country were sent or chose to go), which was privatized under Governor Reagan. So, all of a sudden, people who couldn’t pay were sent to halfway houses or dumped out on the street.
@bijouxbroussard very similar circumstance here....we shut down our mental institution because of high costs. much rather see my tax dollars help my own people out rather than send billions to war ravaged and third world countries...i'm all for helping those people out but we really should look after our own first

@Patriot96 This comment should be tolerated? How Western centric are you? You are a piece of work, but I'll get the downvote for how discriminatory this is and lacking of empathy.... continue the hate, you have your forum.

Cell phones! Therefore the end of normal communication.
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@SageWanderer agreed. It’s causing a huge mental health issue increase in youngsters.
@SageWanderer I remember being paged on the job while driving and having to find a phone booth—in the rain. So cell phones were a blessing.

Unfortunately, the nature of people is that some will abuse any advantage.
Osogris · 56-60, M
Makeup… it contributes to the degradation of women throughout all of history.
I know beautiful women who do not feel beautiful without it because somebody else told them that they weren’t and they believe them.
The fact that women don’t value themselves and men don’t value women without make up…
Weak minds all around!
Vibrators, we men need the ladies to be more horny 🤪 jk lol
@sstronaut use them to your advantage...trust me it works
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@sstronaut they can be an asset when used in a partnership..

Nuclear weapons

Then there are probably some pesticides, synthetic drugs, institutional religion and belief systems that include racism and fascism..

@RenFur well although I get you totally to some it’s their saving grace.
RenFur · 70-79, M
@Primnproper

Sadly, yes. Why is it their saving grace? Who wants them to need it?
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@RenFur it’s whatever brings each individual their comfort, who are we to judge.

Clingfilm that doesn't cling
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@Gumba1000 I’ve got a roll like that now, something to do with what they’ve taken out of it to make it more environmentally friendly, which is fine but it no longer clings!
JoyfulSilence · 46-50, M
Reserved parking spaces for remote order pickups only. There is no place to park for normal in-person shoppers. Most of the time I disobey and park there anyway. Prime spots!

@Gumba1000 I’m not sure what about cults and things?
Gumba1000 · M
@Primnproper Surely cults have leaders and then organised structures underneath? Unless just one person that does everything and a room full of people around

Smart phones and social media. And I mean that.
@NoThanksLeon but can you get rid of it in your life?...if you read this then the answer is no..so what's stopping you from cutting it out?
@beermeplease I answered the post question. Is that okay?
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@NoThanksLeon I can understand that.
Osogris · 56-60, M
If you post anything on here that the person that died chose to continue consuming or experimenting with… you are the enabler that killed the person that you “say you loved“
If someone that you love died consuming the thing that you are accusing “the thing that killed them” but you did nothing about it… you are an enabler and just as guilty as a cigarettes, or the Diet Coke or the Pepsi or the alcohol or the big Mac they killed you loved one.
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@Osogris no need for apologies it’s fine.👍
WillieT · 61-69, M
@Osogris And many do try, in vain, to do something about it. I had that situation with my sister.Type 1 diabetes, turned into type 2 by guzzling down sugared soda and sunny d until she wound up in a coma, tracheotomy from COPD, and more. No matter how much you try, some people are just too determined and self destructive.
@Osogris You cannot control the behavior of other adults. You can help and support their attempts to save themselves, but ultimately, they are responsible for their own choices. And you can’t take on guilt if they refuse your help. 😞
Money. When it was invented and Wall St created a thousand shrouds to not see compassion, we lost the art of humanity, but I'll let those below focus upon religion..... geesh this world has gone mad when it complains while the root of problems is lack of equality, access, kindness, compassion.... and we can just continue hate for all the things we can not control, brilliant!

Or how about the lack of respect for human life?
There is nothing produced that is evil…what is evil is “why” something was produced.
