I get my hair done first before the body

I have a ritual, unfortunately dictated by my European tankless water heater. Probably more of a thermostat issue than a water heater, but I haven't been able to find a plumber willing tackle the problem. Anyway, it gets me coming and going. The plumbers located the heater too far from the bathrooms (something about running the gas line to the heater) and then didn't insulate the pipes. So in cold weather, it takes awhile to heat up the pipes before you really get hot water. So the beginning of the ritual is to stand back aways while the water is heating up while wetting my hair and shampooing it. Then as soon as it is up to an acceptable warmth level, get under the shower spray, lather up, and rinse off, as quickly as possible because during cold weather in particular (but possibly anytime) it the water temp will start to drop and then plunge to cold. Requiring resetting the thermostat, which , of course, is in the other bathroom and inside a cupboard unreachable from that shower even if I were to switch bathrooms.

@dancingtongue @Really Looks like you guys have got it sussed to work for your benefit.👍
dancingtongue · 80-89, M
@Really Bathing is not an option. Miss the jacuzzi we had in our old home before we downsized. This house already had been adapted by elderly owners for showers only to avoid the dangers of getting in and out of the tub, and we kept it that way when we renovated.
Really · 80-89, M
@dancingtongue Again I completely relate - this time to the scariness of exiting the tub as an 'older' person. I have grab bars and non-skid appliqués but still it's a risky business. The most dangerous part is maybe when I'm sit-sliding out over the rim with my feet searching for the floor and my bum still hanging over the inside of the tub. Anything could happen at this point.
Madmonk · M
I’m all about business when I’m in there. Start at my feet work my way up. I use African soap that is abrasive. In and out. I shave what all needs shaving before I even get in
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@Madmonk That’s pretty much how I am. Both my son and daughter could be in there for an age with candles, music it used to drive me insane. Lol

Just me and my radio... 🎼🎶
dancingtongue · 80-89, M
@helenS @Really Made me think of the original "me and my radio" lyric by Fats Waller:

helenS · 36-40, F
@Really "The airwaves of the nation
Between midnight and the dawn"
Never heard that beautiful radio song before! Thank you 🌷
PS I love driving in my sister's old car, at night, when it's raining, and I'm listening to the radio...
helenS · 36-40, F
@dancingtongue Thank you! 🌷
Here's Ruth Etting's version, containing all the lyrics, where the line "I'm happy on the shelf" is explained (she's one bird with self-control, happy inside her cage):

So sweet!
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
I like to lie in the bath with a flannel over my face 🛀 My daughter likes to come into the bathroom for a chat or we might read together. Either way is fine 😌
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@SunshineGirl awe… that’s sweet.🤗
AbbeyRhode · F
I'm lucky if I have time for a shower. I have no time for frills, it's wash and out.
sladejr · 56-60, M
@AbbeyRhode no portable shower head for the good parts? 😞
sladejr · 56-60, M
I is kidding 😁
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@AbbeyRhode yes life can be hectic..
emilytips · 26-30, F
I recommend saving time by washing your clothes at the same time. 👍
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@emilytips 😆😅 great idea..
Really · 80-89, M
@emilytipsDid that often in hotels/motels when traveling in my job.
PunkRockSuperStar · 56-60, M
I vastly prefer a shower to a bath, but there's only a bath in my flat. I tend not to linger in it for longer than strictly necessary. I always feel much cleaner and more energised after a shower, and there's no hanging around twiddling your thumbs while waiting for it to fill!
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@PunkRockSuperStar I prefer a shower, I kind of don’t like the idea of washing in a bath then lying in it for an age. 🤢
PunkRockSuperStar · 56-60, M
@Primnproper I know. I never feel properly clean after a bath. It's funny though: it took me years to get used to the idea of showering after being brought up in houses that had baths only. Then, when I moved into a flat that had a shower and no bath, I found I loved the shower so much that I was using it morning, noon and night! I loved to wash with tingly tea-tree shower gel. It made me feel so refreshed.
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@PunkRockSuperStar my son in law likes that one too. It’s so much quicker as well having a shower.
WillaKissing · 56-60
Wet my headfirst and shampoo it rubbing the shampoo through my hair and scalp. then soap down and shave what needs shaved. I rinse my hair out last.
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@WillaKissing ahhh.. so that’s when you pull out the big guns 🔫. 😁
WillaKissing · 56-60
@Primnproper Hell, Big guns medium guns, little guns, and duct tape and rope if it were not illegal!

Been ten years single, so you're giving me inspirations. LOL
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@WillaKissing 😆😆 Always happy to help with pointers..
JoyfulSilence · 46-50, M
I am a quickie in the shower.

For baths, it is an investment of hot water, so I linger.
JoyfulSilence · 46-50, M
@Really

I live on a second floor apartment and do not have a garden. And I am not sure plants would like soap.
Really · 80-89, M
@JoyfulSilence I was joking. Sorry you don't have a garden but then, maybe you wouldn't want one. I think soapy 'irrigation' is no problem, especially if it's at ground level and doesn't go on the leaves; but even there it can be useful to eliminate harmful insects. In fact it's regularly used against aphids. That's more than you want to know, I'm sure :).
JoyfulSilence · 46-50, M
@Really

I could always pee off my balcony and water the grass.

🤭
JustJan · F
throw in 3 Bath bombs (non violent type lol) pour a glass of wine, tie my hair up put some music on and luxuriate for as long as I can
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@JustJan sounds like heaven. 👍
JustJan · F
@Primnproper Heaven would be the phone not ringing while I was in there x
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@JustJan 😂 most definitely.
Musicman · 61-69, M
Occasionally I will linger longer in the shower and let the warm water massage my back. Other than that I am in and out.
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@Musicman yep same here.
For me, it's about getting clean. But I understand those who like to take time to relax and unwind.
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@BizSuitStacy yep me too.
Houdini · 56-60, M
I’m in the bath for ages with my music on chilling
Houdini · 56-60, M
@Primnproper yes you could say that. I’ve been known to pull the plug out and fill it back up again. But I also like a shower as well
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@Houdini how very extravagant of you..😁
Houdini · 56-60, M
Bignakedguy · 31-35, M
Bubble bath. Dim lighting . A tripod and my phone playing a movie . And wine/ champagne on the side
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@Bignakedguy Well you’ve got a whole evening planned out there.🙂
tfan123 · 41-45, M
If I am achy I’ll have a nice hot bath with Epsom salts. If I’m ok I’ll take a hot long shower 👍🙂
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@tfan123 Sounds like a good plan.🙂
Zaphod42 · 46-50, M
The most I ever do is put on a YouTube video to listen to while I get ready 🤷‍♂️
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@Zaphod42 YouTube is good for stuff, I like my different playlists.
Longpatrol · 31-35, M
5 minutes no more than 10 in the shower. Water is precious.
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@Longpatrol it certainly is
Dawgsfan3 · 41-45, M
I usually shower fairly quickly
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@Dawgsfan3 me too.
Dawgsfan3 · 41-45, M
@Primnproper Occasionally I’ll soak in the tub
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@Dawgsfan3 I don’t use them anymore.
JustEd · 41-45, M
In and out unless I need to shave. Sometimes I even wash my feet
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@JustEd yep me too.

Primnproper · 56-60, F
@nevergiveup I do..
@Primnproper lucky him and you
Primnproper · 56-60, F

swirlie · 31-35, F
I have a sand pit out back that I roll around in naked just like the dog does, then I take the vacuum cleaner to myself for the final touchup.
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@swirlie you shimmying about in a sand pit. Lol
swirlie · 31-35, F
@Primnproper
