I support the people of Israel.
I support the people of Palestine.

I do not support Hamas.
I do not support Netanyahu.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@JSul3 I agree totally.
@JSul3 This.

BlueVeins · 22-25
I think it's an odd question. Israel is a country with its own government, whereas Palestine is a land area of disputed size and shape, connected to an ethnicity of people and a few competing organizations that claim to represent it. I support the right of all civilians to live in peace, in their homeland. The warfare and terrorism needs to stop on both sides, the civilian hostages need to be released on both sides, Hamas needs to recognize Israel, the blockade needs to be lifted, and Israel needs to let Palestinians back into their homeland.

In pursuit of those goals, I most closely align with the PLO.

@BlueVeins you’re right bro, and sorry if I got a bit snippy, this matter is just very personal to me ❤‍🩹
BlueVeins · 22-25
@IamBack I'm sorry. 🤗 I know this whole thing is such a nightmare to witness, especially with it being your family and all. I hope we see real peace in our lifetimes and an end to the oppression of the Palestinians.
I agree with Zohran Mamdani. Israel should continue existing, but it should be a democratic state where everyone has equal rights. I don't support Israel as a Jewish Ethnostate, just like I wouldn't support Palestine as an Arab Ethnostate.
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
@BohemianBabe I think it’s very gracious of Israel to allow Palestinians to be citizens and vote . I hope they can figure out a peaceful solution. I think that’s what we all hope for. Maybe I’m just naive.
@AthrillatheHunt So if America didn't allow black people from New York or California to vote, but the rest of the black population was allowed to vote, that would be gracious?
@robb65 Gaza is part of Israel in that the Israeli government controls that land.
I have empathy for the suffering in both places. Right now, there is far more suffering happening in Palestine.

Renkon · M
“An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.”

In this war, it’s the people on both sides who suffer the most. I don’t think the conflict will end soon; when geopolitics take over, real resolution becomes a distant dream. Peace gets buried under power plays and interests far removed from the lives of those directly affected.

Just want to say that as someone who grew up in warzone, it means much to me than many answers here have been considerate towards victims in general.
YoMomma · 41-45
I support respect for Israel and reform for Gaza .. i don't support islamic hate and slurs against Israelis
helenS · 36-40, F
Israel, unconditionally. I'll always do what I can do.
TinyViolins · 31-35, M
Neither. My concern is always for people, and there are a lot of innocent people who have suffered and will continue suffering as long as these two remain in conflict
I support the innocent people that did not ask for this conflict ...
On both sides
Based upon the settlers moving into the Gaza, the police actions and Netanyahu, I support Palestine. I respect the Israeli people but not some of the things that Israel has done as a country. 🥺
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
Both and neither; it's a complex question. Israel has the right to exist, but the Palestinian people have a right to a homeland, too. Part of the problem is that while Israel does have an actual ancient history, "Palestine" never existed as a nation until it was artificially created by the British and the UN.
eMortal · M
I support saving lives.
I support a settled, peaceful region with a two-state solution negotiated in good faith.
Imsleepy · 31-35
I support whatever leads to ceasing the loss of innocent lives.
sirweighsalot · 22-25, M
I feel like they're both the victims of the countries funding both sides of the war and not intervening despite having the power to.
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
I support both peoples
Humans on both sides. The people who just want to live in peace.

who/what do you define as Palestine!

@helenS they are sheep in wolves clothing aka pro bloody terrorist hiding behind a political cause 😏
ArtieKat · M
@helenS I'm reminded of the alleged comment made by the late Golda Meir, the legendary Israeli PM, who said that peace could only prevail in the region when the Arabs learned to love their children more than they hate the Israelis.

Our Bible says the following: (God addressing the people of Israel): Genesis 12:3
"I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

Isaiah the Prophet addressing the people of Israel:

Isaiah 60:12 "For the nation and kingdom that will not serve you shall perish; those nations shall be utterly laid waste."

Isaiah 41:11-12 "Behold, all who are incensed against you shall be put to shame and confounded; those who strive against you shall be as nothing and shall perish. You shall seek those who contend with you, but you shall not find them; those who war against you shall be as nothing at all."
fanuc2013 · 51-55, F
These people have been fighting for centuries and won't stop until one side or the other has been annihilated! Look back in history, constant fighting with some lulls in between wars!
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@fanuc2013 i refuse to be so pessimistic. There is a comment in the bible, and I am really not a big bible believer, but it goes something to the fact that peace will not come when tools of war are turned into plowshares, but only when the transformation is from that into musical instruments Only then can we see peace because before we have instruments of war the musical instruments will first need to become plowshares.

https://templedehirschsinai.org/parshat-vayakhel-%E2%80%A2-exodus-351-3820/

Israeli poet Yehudah Amichai,after the verse in Micah 4, wrote: “Don’t stop after beating the swords into plowshares, don’t stop! Go on beating and make musical instruments out of them. Whoever wants to make war again will have to turn them into plowshares first.” This beautiful sentiment displays the strong predisposition against warfare felt by the Jewish community, itself the historical victims of violence.

This poem also contains the key to unlocking a verse in this week’s Torah portion. “The posts were four; their four sockets were of copper, their hooks of silver; and the overlay of their tops was of silver, as were also their bands,” we read in Exodus 38:19. Why silver and copper and not a more durable, lasting metal? In addition to their natural beauty, we are taught that these metals were used in construction of the Mishkan due to their unsuitability for weaponry. Our most sacred space itself, in addition to the rituals contained within, are constant reminders of our highest aspiration, that “nation shall not lift up sword against nation nor shall they learn war anymore.”

WolfNight8 · M
@nudistsueaz israel
nudistsueaz · 61-69, F
@WolfNight8 Well, that answers that.
The people of both. The government of neither.
@ThePatientAnarchist I agree, but it's important to remember that Palestine isn't a country with a government. It's two regions within Israel. The blame for both the genocide and the rise of Hamas is firmly on the government of Israel.
tobynshorty · 51-55, F
The killing should stop
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@tobynshorty you will not get an argument about that.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
Neither. Put a embargo around the middle east and let them fight it out until one side is gone or leaves.

Six thousand years of on and off war shows it's not going to stop until that happens.
Nobody · 18-21, FNew
It's clear that Israel wants its ancient borders back and a one religion state running the show. It's hard to choose a side: the terrorist or the tyrant.
WolfNight8 · M
Israel .........Palestine never existed
Greyjedi · M
Neither. They should both be locked up in psychiatric wards all over Jordan and “Isreal” should be the first international park where people can visit but not stay.

The real people being terrorized by war-mad power hungry oligarchs who feel their particular sky daddy gives them the right to be monsters to "the oppressor"
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@WolfGirlwh0r3 wow, that is ignoring thousands of years of history. I am speaking about the current terrible situation.

@samueltyler2 Talk about ignorance
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@WolfGirlwh0r3 i don't understand your comment. If you think there was ever really peace in that region, please tell me when!
