Greyhound Trust. they're specifically dedicated to helping and rehoming retired racing greyhounds

My BF and his sister were both actively involved with the charity and his sis even adopted some herself over the years. hearing some of the stories they went through i believe this charity really need all the support they can get.

The RNLI. I come from a coastal community so saving lives at sea is is a big deal for us be it tourists in the summer or our fishermen in all seasons and weather.
Morvoren · F
@MrsMONAKanful No worries. Mistakes happen
dubkebab · 51-55, M
@Morvoren It's good to know your limits!
We tend to lose a few tourists a year due to the fact that cute and cuddly mother nature will kill you quick if you ain't paying attention! But I did just remember that a nonprofit I'm on the board of put a few grand into funding swimming lessons for the kids after covid derailed the program,so there's always hope...
Morvoren · F
@dubkebab Yes it’s always worth keeping it going
FreeSpirit1 · 51-55, F
St. Jude Children's research hospital
American Red Cross
and a Boys hockey league in my town. That's all I can afford. Id give plenty more if I could.
Ontheroad · M
I've long been involved as a volunteer with one organization or another... the most recent was as a volunteer maintenance person at a woman's shelter, the one before that was the Red Cross, and before that I volunteered at a couple of different homeless shelters in different countries I was in.

Now I contribute to microloan organizations, the Humane Society, a regular monthly donation to a clean water organization, a local teachers' organization to fund arts and literature/reading programs, and I seem to always be giving money to legit go fund me needs.

I'm not wealthy, but I figure if we all do what we can, then we will have a better world.
dubkebab · 51-55, M
@Ontheroad I like the cut of your jib, sir.
The Red Cross gave me soup, coffee and dry socks after a flood wrecked my town-that's something one doesn't easily forget. I paid 'em back in pints of blood as time went by,heh heh.

Is the clean water program you support local or international?
Ontheroad · M
@dubkebab It's an international project... here is their information:

I tend to prioritize improving the human condition through Habitat for Humanity and Doctors Without Borders, but my prime one -- both monetarily and volunteer effort -- is a student-run housing co-operative providing much needed affordable housing at my alma mater. A vast number of the residents are the first in their families to attend college, and 10% were homeless, unable to afford the university dorms or other housing, prior to finding an opening at the co-operative.

“God knows what is hiding in this world of little consequence
Behind the tears, inside the lies
A thousand slowly dying sunsets
God knows what is hiding in those weak and drunken hearts
I guess the loneliness came knocking
No one needs to be alone, oh save me”

WildBill25 · 26-30, M
@whowasthatmaskedman right?? Beer tax here is unbelievable!!
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@WildBill25 Tax on alcohol and tobacco everywhere is stunning. Of course, its "For your own good"..😷
Diotrephes · 70-79, M
@manly A person's favorite cause or charity should always be the person's immediate and extended family members.

1 Timothy 5:8 (CEB) = "But if someone doesn’t provide for their own family, and especially for a member of their household, they have denied the faith. They are worse than those who have no faith."
perceptivei · 36-40, F
Definitely animals.
exexec · 61-69, C
Most of my donations go to my church, but St. Jude Children's Hospital is my favorite charity. I also give nominal amounts to a few historical organizations and animal groups. Lynn gives to Special Olympics.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
I believe in helping without the help of any organizations.

Charities are organizations just like corporations are organizations. The two report to the IRS for a good reason!

Funny that churches don't have to report to the IRS. I don't donate to especially churches.

If more just helped without the organizations then their wouldn't be such a problem.

People helping people themselves should come naturally. Not be controlled who gets what, where and under what conditions.

That is far too much control going on.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
kiva.org.. A global microfinance charity that offers a hand up, rather than a hand out. People can borrow to start or develop a local business or farm or pay for education for themselves or family members. Over time the loans are repaid and you can lend the same money out over and over. A standard loan is $25 and Kiva agregate the loans together and direct them as you wish... I have taken to making a donation in a persons name instead of sending flowers to a funeral. A more useful and lasting memorial..😷

curiouslady93 · 31-35, F
@Torsten This post wasn't asking for your fave porn
Torsten · 36-40, M
@curiouslady93 haha good one. Weird you have animal porn on your mind though. Maybe keep your fetishes to yourself instead of trying to deflect it on others

Old people
Children of brothel
Spumoni · 46-50, M
Diotrephes · 70-79, M
Instead of enriching the people who run the charities why don't you spend that money on helping your relatives? Maybe it's because you hate your family members.
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
Probably the ASPCA, though I try to give to the local Rescue Mission Food Drive a few times a year.
@ChipmunkErnie the CEO of the ASPCA, in spite of running a non-profit, gets paid nearly twice as much as the president of the US, something's wrong with that picture

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matthew_E._Bershadker

People would be better off donating to Best Friends Animal Society than to the ASPCA

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Best_Friends_Animal_Society
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
@BlueGreenGrey Yes, the President is seriously underpaid. I usually give to the local branch of the SPCA. And Non-profit doesn't mean that people work for free, it's a tax status.
Poppies · 61-69, F
Tops is probably the IRC, International Rescue Committee, but there are several.
MrsMONAKanful · 36-40, F
