@Morvoren saving lives at sea is is a big deal for us be it tourists in the summer or our fishermen in all seasons and weather.

@Morvoren Great stuff! I would fully do that if we had such a thing around here.Our local firefighters do the river rescues and I can see them doing drills from my porch.The US coast guard handles our section of coast.
Steve Ignorant was very devoted to his RNLI work after he left Crass,I was somewhat surprised to learn.

@dubkebab I was going to volunteer but I did a bit of life guarding to get experience and I had a nasty incident with a cramping swimmer, the guy was telling my size and almost drowned us both. I lost confidence after that but like to donate as often as I can.

@MrsMONAKanful The RNLI rescue people who need help, be it swimmers caught in tides or fishermen in storms, they rescue people at sea. That’s all. They have nothing to do with fishing activity.

We tend to lose a few tourists a year due to the fact that cute and cuddly mother nature will kill you quick if you ain't paying attention! But I did just remember that a nonprofit I'm on the board of put a few grand into funding swimming lessons for the kids after covid derailed the program,so there's always hope...
