The short version is: yes for a very few people, no for everyone else including several I would definitely be sad to lose contact with.

I've met three people in real life who are or were also on SW. They have my email address and I have theirs. A few other Sw-ers have contacted me via mail and chat outside SW so they too have my contact details but most do not.

I do wonder sometimes how much social network platforms and the people on them matter to people. Many seem to think it very important but never give away any other way of being contacted so if the site disappears or if their account is closed no one is able to contact them. I occasionally see posts on SW asking about other members and whether they are alright, usually no one can answer definitely because there is no other channel.

So in my profile I have put my email address and Instagram profile as well as the names of people here who have other ways of contacting me.

In my experience when I have given my contact info out and I've left for long periods of time people hardly ever bothered to reach out ...the only way they would talk to me would be here so I don't bother to give out my contact info when I leave again ...
