Yes, and probably a way to make themselves feel justified and a form of revenge, when anyone does it.
I also see it as emotional immaturity and wanting validation.

It's a form of revenge for a perceived wrong. I have never done it, although I have threatened to do it. My state of mind isn't normal when I do. I can't think about my actions when I feel this way. I get so impulsive.
There was a time when something close to this happened and that was when I shared my screen in a google chat, and it showed intimate messages between the site moderator and I, and I did that because my friend asked me to...he thought it would be funny. Users in the chat of course noticed them. We got into the habit of trolling people. One time I messaged the wife of a man who joined the site, and my friend discovered that one of the few "females" there was a catfish

Honestly, I’ve only seen folks posting unsolicited messages they received that were disturbing, basically as a way of warning other women to watch out for some of the creepier posters, and block them. I never got the impression they’d ever been on good terms. The site has asked people not to do that, so when I receive such messages, I just forward them to the admins.

@samueltyler2 The site has often asked people not to post problem dms, but report them. But apparently the only thing they see happening is that they’re blocked and the person is free to go after others, because then someone else complains. So some have started publicly posting the content again, while not showing the username.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@bijouxbroussard and once blocked, you can't intervene on their posts.
bookerdana · M
@bijouxbroussard I've seen the screenshot and tell -all posts egregiously abused but if yer popular no one cares🙄

I'm not certain what chats you are talking about, but what I've seen posted here, user names are almost always redacted, and are screen captures of parts of private messages where some perv is messaging them... not of those they are friends with.
I wish SW didn't have rules that required the poster to block out the user name.

Do you never have complaints about your own gender?
RubySoo · 56-60, F
Its not just women doing to it guys. Guys do it too and many do it when they've fallen out with a same sex friend.
WHY DO SOME GUYS DO IT ALSO?
SilentObZerver · 22-25, M
@Ozymandiaz lol
You ask another question without answering the first?

Why do some guys have to get creepy in their DMs?

To entertain me. Next question.
SilentObZerver · 22-25, M
@Selah lol

They are trying to gain allies with a 'first strike' , because they know at least some of the blame is on them, and if it ever comes out, they don't want anyone (their allies) to believe it.

@NoThanksLeon Always enjoy your smartness.

@Magenta Thank you 🤗. Usually it gets me blocked. 😂

@NoThanksLeon 🤗 Well, many prefer sugar coating.

I'm totally against posting anything someone sends in private chat. If you send something to me, you are 100% assured I will not post or share it.
Magenta · F
@JimboSaturn I respect that. It's exact same for me.
I think it's abhorrent when others do it.

I guess you get none unsolicited messages by random dudes telling you stuff like this one as an example...
Am I wrong?

@SUPERVlXEN Absurd!
To shame them into refraining from that behavior. They're like children that need to be taught that it's a "No no."

WHY IS YOUR CAPS-LOCK KEY BROKEN?!
DrWatson · 70-79, M
I see this a little differently.
I see it as part of a more general trend in this cyber age: instead of describing things, we post images.
For example, my wife and I recently received a text from my sister-in-law, who lives in another state, recommending a certain movie. She researched where it is playing near us, but instead of stating that information in her text, she just attached a screen shot from Google maps, indicating the location of the theater (which of course we were very familiar with in the first place.)
So, people often post about their experiences in relationships. And often they post about funny or horrible things that have happened. I see posting a screen shot of a private chat as just another example of the modern cyber shortcut. If I don't object to the content of a post in "descriptive prose" form, I am not going to object to the same content in "screenshot" form. (Assuming any identifying information has been covered up.)

Men exert their power by acting out physically. SOME women NOT ALL exert their power through character assassination., rumor, and innuendo. Men are physical SOME women are social
SilentObZerver · 22-25, M
@Madmonk character Assignation?

To piss them off. This is not rocket science.
SilentObZerver · 22-25, M
