Do you think tiktok will come back straight away after the ban in America?

It has too right

robertsnj · 56-60, M
It will hurt them to lose American market share but it kinda depends on how well they do in india, Asia (espcially China) Africa and Europe.

this ban is not good for US Singapore trade relations. We export machinary, agriulutre and crude oil to them and import / and import electronics and petro.

I don't know, but I worry about the effect this may have on our relationship with Taiwan who has a strong relationship with Singapore as well as culture overlap.

Singapore has become a leader in genetic research, which we could benefit from, if we had a relationship with them. Our outlook on life science advancements has a lot of dark spots due to US gov and population rejection of biology (and by proxy genetics) as a valid science.
@Elessar Riiight. Because 30 second videos of Fortnite dances is going to how the Maoist revolution comes to America.....sure.
Elessar · 26-30, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow That's secondary, that's how they drive engagement. when actual public discourse manipulation needs to happen the content they'll push is very different. See the last Romanian election
@Elessar Even your own claim here is based entirely on speculation about something possible, maybe, someday in the future based on an assumption that China wants to do bad things based on yet more American assumptions about China that almost all relate back to "commie bad."

As for Romania it looks like Eastern Europe since 1991....make sure pro American and EU ideologues get elected at all costs.

If you want to find out what happened in Romania, check the travel of mid level State Department wonks or CIA.

The problem isn't TikTok getting banned, it's X and FB/Insta/YT and the others not getting the same treatment (even better than a ban would be heavy regulations)

Clearly those will get even worse instead 😑
Elessar · 26-30, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Ahh yeah all the evidence that you don't like has to be AI generated 😆 congratulations you went full MAGA (fake news!!)

Congratulations also on reiterating 100% of Netanyahu's stance.

Amazing backflip also from complaining because it's unacceptable that some drone allegedly hit a civilian target by mistake, to justifying mass ràprs with "atrocities are normal in war".

Wild also how 100% of the actual western neo-Nazis support Russia and not Ukraine (starting from the AfD).

Almost almost like Putin deceived you.
exchrist · 31-35
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow given that is already true. agricultural fuel and hemp taxation would eventually free the worker\taxpayer\citizen\farmer from the current tax burden. Gasoline would approach 1 dollar a gallon; as supply and demand equalize itd be "carbon neutral" and generate only profit as an export.
Support the troops bring them home!

I have never had it, never will.
I was never interested personally, just as well since I’m certainly not their target audience. But if enough young people fight for it, they’ll probably find a way to bring it back.
DDonde · 31-35, M
I dunno man. It's possible its revival could become a non-issue with the users flocking to different successor apps. There's nothing particularly special about the app IMO that couldn't just be re-done.
exchrist · 31-35
I doubt it will go down elsewhere only banned in the u.s. we will see how long this "freedom of speech violation" (the tik tok ban) stays in effect.
Pisciatto1 · 26-30, M
Wiseacre · F
I hope not
SubstantialKick · 36-40, M
@Vin53 And there are much more fun alternatives like Instagram and Reddit.
Vin53 · M
@SubstantialKick Try Fark.com. My fave site.
Zeusdelight · 61-69, M
@Vin53 I have not seen educational videos on Reddit. If there are, good. If not, that's one great attraction of Tik Tok, I learn better by watching and listening than reading.

More fun is in the eye of the beholder:)
Sidewinder · 36-40, M
It's no skin of my nose whether they ban it or not.
LaylaTheTallGirl · 22-25, F
Never had it, don’t care
Sidewinder · 36-40, M
SubstantialKick · 36-40, M
They said that it won't be going away completely, but it won't be available anymore on the app stores and won't get anymore updates. So it's eventually going to die a slow death.
Pfuzylogic · M
The Tik-Tok CEO was invited to sit next to the President at his inauguration. Do you think the app will shut down?
Yes, it will be call kikkok
Zeusdelight · 61-69, M
Won't another similar platform just be created?

@Theyitis It has. I do not recall the name, however.
@Theyitis necessity is a mother
JohnOlinger81 · 41-45, M
Yes The Creator. is Attending Trumps Inauguration I Heard That Elon Musk might buy it hes interested in it
JamesBugman · 56-60, T
@JohnOlinger81 and call is XX or maybe Y
What's so special about it??? I mean... aside from the fact that you grant China a free licence to all your data, I don't see what it does that YouTube doesn't do???
Theyitis · 36-40, M
How will it “come back” if it’s banned?
@Theyitis As I mentioned it is basically a glorified Parental controls block. Block the domain with US ISPs.

And probably de-list it from Apps stores for American users. But it will have zero impact outside the US.

For example it will change nothing here in Canada. And we access the same site.
Theyitis · 36-40, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Okay, so what exactly constitutes a “comeback”? It sounds like it will be extremely difficult to make a comeback in the US as long as the ban is in effect.
@Theyitis I comeback would just mean if Trump or another POTUS reverses the decision it is a simple process that would not involve resurrecting a dead corporation like some seem to believe.

And depending on how it is done a simple VPN might be enough to bypass it.
daaaan2000 · M
No, people will realize they don't need it
Zeusdelight · 61-69, M
@daaaan2000 There are many individuals who ran businesses from Tik Tok because it provided them an opportunity they could not get elsewhere.

Here was a porn free site that was egalitarian in nature that had no one trying to make outlandish profits from them.
daaaan2000 · M
@Zeusdelight It literaly is none of those things 🤣
Zeusdelight · 61-69, M
@daaaan2000 Ok, show me your evidence.

Funny thing is, I don't think you have ever seen TikTok or know what you are talking about.
Pisciatto1 · 26-30, M
No. People will gravitate to another Chinese owned app
CorvusBlackthorne · 100+, M
The ban is unconstitutional. It will be resisted and overturned.

Elessar · 26-30, M
@CorvusBlackthorne Something something presidential immunity. The constitution/law binds you, not the GOP
CorvusBlackthorne · 100+, M
@OrionInTheNight @Elessar You are both correct. These people do not respect the law in the slightest, but it will still be resisted.
It will not have much impact on Tik Tok as a business. A bunch of American influencers are about to get the shaft and well Americans will be banned from seeing anti Zionist content.
