How will it “come back” if it’s banned?
@Theyitis Simple. Because even if it is "banned" it just means it is blocked by a firewall. Tik Tok is not actually going anywhere.

@Theyitis Led Zeppelin
The band was banned from performing in Boston for five years after a concert riot caused an estimated $50,000 to $70,000 worth of damage.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Doesn’t that mean that nobody will be able to purchase the app and that it will be impossible to post new content or receive updates? If not, then what the hell does it mean?

@Vin53 Apples to Zamboni machines. Led Zeppelin was popular in a shit ton more places than just Boston, and just because the band couldn’t perform live there doesn’t mean that people couldn’t still listen to them on the radio, possibly travel to other US cities to see them perform, and even buy their albums and merch. What are TikTok followers in the US going to do if they can’t post new content or receive updates? Buy TikTok t-shirts and listen to TikTok on the radio?

@Theyitis TikTok will be removed from internet browsers under a ban, though The New York Times reported it is “likely” users could still be able to access the app on a browser if they use a virtual private network, or VPN, which masks users' true location.

@Theyitis I saw an article that said the app won't be available to download, but the existing one will still work until it becomes outdated due to no updates.

@Vin53 Are VPN’s easy to access?
Theyitis · 36-40, M
@SubstantialKick That would seem to be a major obstacle to any potential comeback.

@Theyitis Turbo VPN - Secure VPN Proxy
@Theyitis As I mentioned it is basically a glorified Parental controls block. Block the domain with US ISPs.

And probably de-list it from Apps stores for American users. But it will have zero impact outside the US.

For example it will change nothing here in Canada. And we access the same site.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Okay, so what exactly constitutes a “comeback”? It sounds like it will be extremely difficult to make a comeback in the US as long as the ban is in effect.
@Theyitis I comeback would just mean if Trump or another POTUS reverses the decision it is a simple process that would not involve resurrecting a dead corporation like some seem to believe.

And depending on how it is done a simple VPN might be enough to bypass it.
