It will hurt them to lose American market share but it kinda depends on how well they do in india, Asia (espcially China) Africa and Europe.

this ban is not good for US Singapore trade relations. We export machinary, agriulutre and crude oil to them and import / and import electronics and petro.

I don't know, but I worry about the effect this may have on our relationship with Taiwan who has a strong relationship with Singapore as well as culture overlap.

Singapore has become a leader in genetic research, which we could benefit from, if we had a relationship with them. Our outlook on life science advancements has a lot of dark spots due to US gov and population rejection of biology (and by proxy genetics) as a valid science.
@robertsnj all interesting points but Tik Tok in no way impact any of those things.

And it is a Chinese app so 140 million Americans won't likely mean much.

Especially since most are moving to Red Note.

@robertsnj It's actually banned in China lol

@Elessar interesting. wonder for how long and what that impact has been for them ?

@robertsnj It's a Chinese app made from a company directly controlled by the Chinese govt with the intention of collecting data and shaping the public discourse in foreign adversary country. It's banned in China because they know they aren't their own target lol
@Elessar Riiight. Because 30 second videos of Fortnite dances is going to how the Maoist revolution comes to America.....sure.
Elessar · 26-30, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow That's secondary, that's how they drive engagement. when actual public discourse manipulation needs to happen the content they'll push is very different. See the last Romanian election
@Elessar Even your own claim here is based entirely on speculation about something possible, maybe, someday in the future based on an assumption that China wants to do bad things based on yet more American assumptions about China that almost all relate back to "commie bad."

As for Romania it looks like Eastern Europe since 1991....make sure pro American and EU ideologues get elected at all costs.

If you want to find out what happened in Romania, check the travel of mid level State Department wonks or CIA.
