Good Grief, I Went To A Grocery Store and Hadn’t Been To That One In A While…

Walked over to the egg case to see how much a 5-dozen case of large eggs were…More than $17. The last time I bought a case of eggs from that store they were cheaper than Walmart or Winco, about $10. Good thing I bought a case of medium size eggs from Winco for $8 this week.

I do not know if this is relevent,or even interesting, but from hardly eating eggs they are now a staple part of my diet.I saw my doctor about it and he said it was just astage I would soon be ova!......I am so sorry sis 😜
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@pedrohedgerow I was born on a farm and would eat scrambled eggs every day and then I’d watch my uncle eat his over-easy fried eggs and I’d tell my aunt “I want my eggs cooked like his”. I’d eat them for nearly a month that way and then I’d get a queasy feeling like they raw and tell her to make them scrambled. I don’t know why I did that but the cycle of this continued for at least 2 years. 😂 The yolks were really bright orange too.
pedrohedgerow · 61-69, M
@cherokeepatti Thats the thing pattie, loose eggs have never sat well on my stomach. My mate used to swallow raw eggs, and a lot worse but thats adifferent story...best stop here...
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@pedrohedgerow 🤢 raw eggs
meggie · F
Can i ask why you buy so many eggs at once? I buy 6 eggs a week for about £1.50 (approx $2) a week for myself as my partner doesnt eat them. The use by date here in about 10 days if you get a carton from the back of the shelf.
meggie · F
@cherokeepatti yrs wise to do so. I have stocked up a bit too
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@meggie If I had room in my freezer I would get more and freeze them. Can use them for baking or scrambled eggs
ninalanyon · 61-69, T
@cherokeepatti US eggs are washed and that takes off the protective layer which means they have to be refrigerated. Here in Norway I keep my eggs on the counter in the kitchen, they keep for about a month.
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
5 dozen case?

They only sell them at 1 dozen cases here. And the cost $8 or more.

Everything is high now. Went to Walmart today, I was going to get some snacks but chose not to because of the prices. We only bought what we needed.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Crazywaterspring yeah I know. I never even bought a week’s worth of groceries the entire time when I worked at Walmart, I might have picked up one or two items that I needed to make soup or such things but when I wanted to stock up I went elsewhere. I go to Aldi, Crest, Winco, and Big Lots (spices etc sometimes) and Sam’s Club for certain items depending on what I need. I saw too many couples pushing one or two shopping carts overflowing with bags of groceries and complaining about how expensive things were. I think they never thought of comparison shopping elsewhere.
Crazywaterspring · 61-69, M
@cherokeepatti Albertson's Winco and Kroger have electronic coupons that help.

Want produce? Shop at a hispanic grocery store. Cheaper and usually nice.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Crazywaterspring No Hispanic groceries in my city but there are in OKC, one does have reasonable prices on most of their veggies but fruits are usually no bargain.

Biden and the Gang go High and we go low.

Remember from Hillary's and Michelle Obama's Words?

I think Obama said it as well but I don't remember if he did or not but I'm sure he's up for it.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
LetsGoBrandon] We go high was code for making us suffer through record inflation, wasn’t it?
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
Better get your thanksgiving turkey now and freeze it.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@easterniowegin I have heard that the authorities will come to a farm and tell the people their chickens have bird flu and need to be destroyed and take every one of them and destroy them without any proof to the owner of the farm. This shit needs to end and end quickly. It’s a big game.
easterniowegin · 51-55, M
@cherokeepatti it's been intentional for a while now...
Chicken farms, turkey, mass cattle deaths in KS, etc. There are no coincidences.
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@cherokeepatti Have you watch a show called “While the rest of us die”.
Lilymoon · F
That's cheap compared to here. 🙄
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Lilymoon Wow. What are they feeding those hens? Gold?
Lilymoon · F
@cherokeepatti I know... 😒
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Lilymoon Farmers who raise the grains for the chickens can produce the eggs a lot cheaper. They don’t have to have a middleman and store markup for that.
How much is milk down there?
@cherokeepatti Yeah I've seen similar in places over the years. Ironically, they were dairy communities too. I've paid about $ 6 in the past for 2 half gallons.
Crazywaterspring · 61-69, M
@cherokeepatti Braum's process their milk differently. They're worth the price.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Crazywaterspring Yes I took a tour of the processing plant. The tour guide said that the government requires a certain amount of milk solids (proteins) in all milk sold commercially. The other brands add dry milk powder to get it to the proper level. Braum’s uses an evaporation process to remove water to get the right proportion instead. Someone told me that he hated the milk they sell in other stores, that it tastes bitter. I told him about them adding powdered milk and powdered milk has MSG in it to get people to drink it because the flavor is funky. Braum’s is the only milk that I buy.
graphite · 61-69, M
Biden did that.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@graphite I told the boy I was going to bring my BIDEN DID THAT stickers to grocery stores and start slapping them next to the prices.
graphite · 61-69, M
@cherokeepatti I've seen one on a gas pump in the most fanatically Democrat part of the country.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@graphite I’ve got a couple hundred stickers in assorted varieties, bought at the discount store. Plus the boy gave me some of his.
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
Might be time to buy chickens.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Fungirlmmm my uncle planted Milo & corn for the chickens and millet hay so they could pick at the seeds in the winter and not get bored. The price of dairy, egg and crimes will go through the roof by the winter.
Fungirlmmm · 51-55, F
@cherokeepatti Thats awesome. My dad doesn't really like the chickens but they run all over the fields because he loves my mom and chickens make her happy. I am like my dad in that i I woulld lijke to eat a few of the stubborn roosters.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Fungirlmmm Roosters tend to fight if there is more than one and they would end up on the table because of that. We would have more baby chicks every spring and you never knew how many would be roosters or hens so had to wait and get the roosters.
4meAndyou · F
You really find great prices!

Eggs are $2.69 a dozen for large white, here. Haven't even seen 5 dozen lots.
4meAndyou · F
@cherokeepatti I haven't been inside Walmart since Covid. I heard that Market Basket has more stock and better prices, and that seems to be true.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@4meAndyou we don’t have one of those
4meAndyou · F
@cherokeepatti They are only on the east coast...for now. Massachusetts and New Hampshire. They are a really great store!
Crazywaterspring · 61-69, M
Winco is awesome!
