Do you talk much about yourself, or do you think you might appear a bore if you do?

Richard65 · M
I hate being the centre of attention and avoid it whenever I can. I once worked with a woman, who I saw practically every day, and when I left to work elsewhere, she said, "I've worked with you for nine years, and I've just realised I know absolutely nothing about you."

No, not usually. It depends on the setting. And no, it’s not because I’m afraid I’d appear to be a bore.

I’m a loner by nature…and learned early, as a child, to be self-contained…a defense mechanism against being hurt.

The part of you…the most vulnerable, deepest part of you…if out of reach, cannot be easily hurt.

Most people would tell you that I’m difficult to get to know. But they’d also tell you I’m interesting, funny, and I’m that friend you call when you really need a friend, or you’re in trouble.

I write about myself on here and nobody cares just as nobody would if I talked about myself irl. 😆 The good thing about this place is that I don't see people rolling their eyes.

I probably talak too much about myself or my interests. I can bore you on several subjects.
Ferric67 · M
I prefer to hear about others
Possibly learn a thing or two in the process
StevetheSleeve · 31-35, M
I can’t imagine anyone getting bored hearing about me. Lol
melissa001 · 51-55, F
I know I talk way too much. And I'm sure I bore a lot of people.
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
People who talk about themselves incessantly are boring.
I know I'm boring. My dog didn't even want to hear my life story
if I try, people work hard to escape. it's better not to.
Degbeme · 70-79, M
nah... people don`t want to listen to my drivel.

I try to avoid the subject altogether
Mmiker · 46-50, M

Ducky · 31-35, F
I know I bore people whenever I go on about myself.
chasingThursday · 36-40, M

I only comment if I have had relevant experiences to the conversation or are specifically asked. Unfortunately, I have had such a varied and long life there usually is a connection of some sort to the point I suspect a lot of people believe I make it up.
ViciDraco · 36-40, M
Typically when I speak of myself, I am trying to relate my experience to someone else's in an attempt to build a shared understanding. Speaking of myself more generally I assume I would be a bore because I feel that my life is largely not that interesting.
Matt85 · 36-40, M
@ViciDraco I feel similar...And when I talk about my experiences, which always includes some common ground, I am hoping the other person will respond with their experiences and we will bounce back and forth for a lil while.
ViciDraco · 36-40, M
@Matt85 that's one of the core premises behind this site, though it can be hard to tell sometimes
Matt85 · 36-40, M
@ViciDraco Lol! It did occur to me that the name of this site is actually quite well thought out.
supersnipe · 61-69, M
I write about things that interest me on here, but I don't go on about my own life. I don't think anyone wants to know about that, and it doesn't help me to talk about it.
Jexie · 26-30, F
I usually talk too much about myself and forget to ask the other person lol
Musicman · 61-69, MVIP
No I don't. No one ever wants to hear about me. They always believe I am there to listen to them.
