Does Fat Acceptance apply for Men, too?

Just wondering since I only ever see Women talking about body positivity in regards to another female's body.. Not so much men
Well dad bods are largely considered desirable these days at least 😅 everybody wants to eat good & be comfortable lol
@TheMasterMan1 lol well those are the ages you want anyway, the mid 20's & up 😂 trust me
@SkeetSkeet mom bods are hot 🥴 cant convince me otherwise 😂

"body positivity"...what trash lol
Lila15 · 22-25, F
@SW-User You think people should be ashamed of their bodies?
TheMasterMan1 · 22-25, M
@Lila15 No. That is not the point of this post. All I'm saying is that the "Body Positivity" movement is very one-sided with it's approach to the subject of, well.... body positivity/fat acceptance lol
SW-User
@Lila15 blah, blah, blah, blah...blah

Blah
assemblingaknob · 26-30, F
For men, their financial stability is what attracts women to men, why do you think trump is married with kids. Because physical appearance doesn't amount to much in men. Wealth does.
TheMasterMan1 · 22-25, M
@assemblingaknob That's actually kind of sad. Financial stability is fine but if physical appearance or personality doesn't amount to much then ultimately a man's worth should be based on his earnings? That is pretty cruel considering a woman's worth is not based on her earnings but rather her physical appearance or personality. Complete 360. I don't find that fair in the slightest. It's fine to want financial stability in a relationship/marriage but to only date based off of one's earnings is quite shallow.
assemblingaknob · 26-30, F
@TheMasterMan1 it's sad both ways, sir. Men want boobs, women want money.
I like a lil something to grab on a man
Matt85 · 36-40, M
@V00doo That could be interperated in so many ways.😰
@Matt85 😌
TheMasterMan1 · 22-25, M
@Matt85 she likes em E X T R A T H I C C

still worthy

Fat shaming is utter pants. Grossly overweight people (unless they have health issues) should address their weight really.
This said, people should be free to be comfortable in their own skins. If that's several rolls then that's up to them 🤷
TheMasterMan1 · 22-25, M
@Lanie78 Couldn't have said it better myself. I think fat-shaming on both ends is just wrong. This post was mainly referring to the "Body Positivity" Movement tbh and how one-sided it is, but I agree with the fact that people should just be happy to be whatever weight they want to be. (Unless it puts their health in danger)
I sometimes want to fast-forward light years, zillions of years away... where such questions are light years away in the past. I have a 'dad's bod' without the child to show. It's just the showing of the metabolism slowing down, we all go through, and the focus on body, while beautiful in trying to promote wellbeing is beautiful in intent... it's just another artifice & opposing views of dogma from years ago, and somewhere I really say a person is beautiful inside themselves before.

As a species, we are a crapshot, full of intellect, memes and base desires.... My pet has it better.
bugeye · 26-30, F
i don't think it should apply at all. by all means live how you want and if you are happy with it then great but don't tell me it's healthy or some sort of thing to be praised.
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
Largely because men don't have the same stigma. Like we have stigma, but I don't get nearly as much shit for being fat as women do.
Budwick · 70-79, M
Too? Meaning it's OK of r women?

Only since lard asses like Kardashians came on the scene.
I find them disgusting.
graphite · 61-69, M
Nope. "Body positivity" is for women, only. A fat man is still an undesirable fat man.
Ducky · 31-35, F
I would certainly hope so or else that'd be a double standard...
graphite · 61-69, M
@Ducky It doesn't. There is no cultural movement to find fat men as attractive.
men in the US just ow,, are largely clueless, why else would a medically obese man thin he can just hit on all the girls and does not understand WHY they turn away?
but there are some folks for sure the prefer big bellies
@TheMasterMan1 i am of mixed feelings. I have been attracted to many kinds of women some of them Quite Full Figured.
I also know women who's every Boyfriend was indeed a Much Larger man
somewhere between personal taste and cultural ideals

I think we need to be kind to those that lie outside the "standards" and give respect.
so I say to many
Do as you Like, but be ready for the haters
TheMasterMan1 · 22-25, M
@SatyrService I actually have a preference for chubbier girls myself. I've dated both thin and fat to know what I like. Although personally, I'm more of a demisexual. So I understand how both genders have their own personal tastes or standards. All I'm saying is that the "Body Positivity" movement or "Fat Acceptance" is only geared towards Women, not Men.
@TheMasterMan1 I think many men are being more body and receiving positive iideals
I thin the deal with Women is SO MUCH of what they have heard all their lives is
You got to look nice
be thin, make men want you
and nothing else they are or do matters.

they get tha message from the time hey are quite young. and not all thicker women get the respect.
even tho many of us like a well filled girl

but men, we have more outlets for self respect we are allowed work, service to others, friendships and effort to be a virtuous.
women need over come the fat bigotry, tat soaks thier lives, hence a movement about it
I'm a chubby chaser. 😬
TheMasterMan1 · 22-25, M
@Nadie As am I. I love women with a fuller face, thicker arms and legs, and a cute soft belly to play with. Yet it doesn't stop me from calling out double standards in Society, ya know? And this is coming from someone who is somewhat fit, not fat.
@TheMasterMan1 there are exceptions to everything.
TheMasterMan1 · 22-25, M
@Nadie Tru dat.
Torsten · 36-40, M
it doesnt apply to women or men, no matter how much people try.
I dont see what there is to be positive about being unhealthy
Teirdalin · 31-35
@Torsten Oh, yeah I think that's just denial.
Torsten · 36-40, M
@Teirdalin its lazy people wanting to push that narrative instead of doing the work and get in shape
helsbels · 26-30, F
@Torsten I think that's simplistic, I don't see body positivity as saying 'fat is attractive' or that it's a positive thing. Like an ugly building isn't much to look at but it would still keep you dry if it rains! To me it's about not reducing someone to their appearance and 'because' they are fat/unhealthy/etc, they are worthless (or just worth less). I don't think that message is obvious or consistent and it might just be my personal take. Speaking as a fat person lol
ammelee · F
generally men tend to be more critical about looks

it's just how they are

besides
say he wants to drag you to his cave
you can't be too heavy
and when providing for you
you need to show he'll not have to take up more jobs to keep you
SW-User
Being fat actually suits some people and some mildly overweight people look good. I didn’t mean obese the ones that can’t properly though. Being fat is still not healthy though.
Ryannnnnn · 31-35, M
The focus and stigma is more towards women in society so that's probably why.
TheMasterMan1 · 22-25, M
@Ryannnnnn Stigma? How so?
Ryannnnnn · 31-35, M
@TheMasterMan1 Women have their value tied to attractiveness subconsciously, it's not true obviously but there's a lot of societal pressure to be skinny and perfect.
helsbels · 26-30, F
@Ryannnnnn I couldn't find a simple way to say that but it's exactly what I was thinking. Mens weight/appearance is held against them less. Not to say of course that it doesn't happen at all.
Yes, it’s definitely discussed in fat acceptance groups.
TheMasterMan1 · 22-25, M
@LeopoldBloom Could you elaborate on how it's discussed?
@TheMasterMan1 I follow several fat-related subs on Reddit. There's plenty of discussion about fat men and women who are turned on by that, just as some men are turned on by fat women. I would agree that fat women have more visibility in the fat acceptance movement, but that's due to women being more sexualized and the fact that any depiction of women in the areas of fashion or physical form is far more prevalent than depiction of men. Pick up a fashion magazine at random and it's far more likely to be about women than men.
People are free to be any shape they want though it can be problematic on public transport
Indy74 · 46-50, F
Of course it does.....men need to feel comfortable in their own skin too.
plungesponge · 41-45, M
Men don't need fat acceptance. We need fugly acceptance
No fatties!
@TheMasterMan1 Duh, dates are lame. Dates and relationships are for people who are a thousand years old.

Yeah, it's kind of been a thing forever.
because men dont make excuses for their weight
Don't really care about fat in others.
DearAmbellina2113 · 41-45, F
Uh hello, Dad Bods?
TheMasterMan1 · 22-25, M
@DearAmbellina2113 Not everyone likes them, tbh although there are a good few who do. I'm talking about the "Body Positivity" movement in general tbh, not really what people's personal tastes or standards are.
GeorgeTBH · 31-35, M
In my experience nope
originnone · 61-69, M
no...we just get fat...
SW-User
I appreciate moobs
I think a lot of times it’s women trying to achieve comfort in the way their own bodies look. Men generally don’t get as much outside pressure in that regard. Personally, I always liked "cuddly" men. 😏

women like fat dudes to an extent. whereas obese women are seen as grotesque.
TheMasterMan1 · 22-25, M
@lumberjackslam They're only seen as grotesque once they pass 300 lbs from what I can tell. I see many women over 200 lbs walking on the streets with crop tops and stuff these days, belly hanging and everything.
lumberjackslam · 41-45, M
@TheMasterMan1 fat with an attitude problem... nice
TheMasterMan1 · 22-25, M
@lumberjackslam Gosh don't even get me started.... some of these women have no right to be giving the tantrums they be giving.

Let’s be for real, no one is accepted for being fat. Not really.
empanadas · 31-35, M
We should start a movement call free the man boobs and big beautiful men
Lanie78 · 41-45, F
@empanadas Please don't. You'll start a whole war on boob envy. No woman wants to compete with a man in the breast department. Let us have that at least 🤣
empanadas · 31-35, M
@Lanie78 but we need a new store called victor's secret.

I'm surprised no one tagged me on this post
