Why do people claim that pretty/handsome people must be a catfish, even when they prove they are not?

GuiltyBiStander · 31-35, F
It's the SW house special :

Catfish with paranoia sauce.

The only thing more boring and pathetic than someone pretending to be something they're not, are the nuerotic watchdogs who think it's their duty to hunt down fakes. And phonies are everywhere online - when you can't find friends in real life.

The truth is these special people are meant for each other. And it would be nice if they'd stop fighting it and just embrace the mutual weirdness, hookup and start humping.

No matter how ugly or insecure they may actually be in person, no one would really care as long as they stop adding to the trash that already gets posted here - And promise not to have children.
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
They spend too much time on social media and don't have other problems to deal with. 😆 Catfishes are a pest but I can't imagine proving some random person on the internet that the photos are truly of me. As long as there are just brief interactions between people, nobody owes that to anyone.

Also, I understand that people are naturally drawn to good-looking people but the double standards some show are ridiculous. No wonder catfishes thrive in the environment like this. As a woman, you can be on the site for 5 years and have thousand stories in the profile and barely any responses. Post one pretty selfie and suddenly you get 3 messages and 5 friendship requests. Idk...it absolutely doesn't surprise me how manipulative people and desperate attention seekers take advantage of this.

In my experience they go from calling you a catfish to calling you ugly
PaleandPolluted · 36-40, F
If i got someone conventionally attractive talking to me I'd be suspicious these days.
SW-User
they are projecting their own insecurities.
zonavar68 · 51-55, M
@SW-User compensating more like it. ;-)

They all need to get a life and stop making innocent people uncomfortable. So what if they have a creative mind and want to post something different to their profile and photo albums. It is their prerogative, we are adults and have freedom of expression. We shouldn't be crucified for that
Matt85 · 36-40, M
I don't claim that.
Because those 18 year old self proclaimed glamour model women on here tend to be this guy:

🤭

Jealousy, insecurity, too much time on their hands and underwear that’s too tight.
Catfish are more than pretty or handsome. They have great jobs, travel, make a lot of money, involved in multi million dollar corporate decisions, drive expensive sports cars, etc etc etc, all while spending 24 hours a day on social media.

Guiltybistander and Crazymusiclover summed it up well. "Paranoia and neurosis."

Maybe partly it's to discredit them due to their own insecurities and a sort of virtue signaling.

My handsome self has been on the receiving end of jealousy and it has to stop I tell you!
So, I taunt them back - -

Missbirdie1986 · 36-40, F
I’m not catfishing because I’m ugly
Missbirdie1986 · 36-40, F
@MaryJo1996 if I have done anything wrong I am sorry I don’t even know you

I think it has more to do with professional photographs than Beauty.
Actual catfish do tend to use the most attractive representations as part of the fantasy, and sometimes they don’t bother to use pictures that aren’t easy to find on the internet. But those accused even after they’ve proven themselves authentic are dealing with jealous posters. In that case it’s best to just block and move on.
SW-User
I personally have never found the catalogue model’ type attractive haha 🤭@bijouxbroussard
@SW-User Nor do I. But I suspect we’re not their target audience. 😉
ekwalizur · 41-45, M
How DO they prove they aren't catfish? I know of 1 user here who has a verified account, but still manages to dup guys with fakes
DDonde · 31-35, M
@ekwalizur One way to prove is through video call, which you can't do on here anyway.
ekwalizur · 41-45, M
@DDonde that USED to be a way to prove it. These days, if you haven't got that much to prove, then it's proof, but deepfakes are the wave of the future
ShadowSister · 46-50, F
I just assume no one here is who they say they are, and occasionally I am pleasantly surprised to be wrong
Vestorius · 41-45, M
@ShadowSister I never judge a book by it's cover.
ShadowSister · 46-50, F
@Vestorius We always remind ourselves not to... but most of us do anyway
MaryJo1996 · 26-30, F
Because they think they're not worthy of interacting with pretty people, and thus question why.

It's their own insecurity, basically.
BigImo · 22-25, F
They've never talked to a pretty girl in their entire lives so refuse to believe we actually exist and would be willing to talk to them
Tobasco · 31-35, F
There's a user here that has a verified profile, but still uses other people's pictures and tries to pass them off as her own lmao.
zonavar68 · 51-55, M
Most social media influencer types are 'pretty people' and influencers are by their very nature 'catfish'.
specman · 51-55, M
Yeah I’m so good looking people think I’m a catfish!
PinkMoon · 26-30, F
Because of the show Catfish 😂.
assemblingaknob · 26-30, F
I'm a catfish

Are you pretty?
GuyWithOpinions · 31-35, M
Insecurities
pancakeslam · 41-45, M
some haggard but verified woman trying to promote her own unappealing self. probably has a mirror at home and asks it who the fairest one is.
Donotfolowme · 51-55, F
Most catfish artists hide behind a very attractive profile
Moneyonmymind · 31-35, M
Jealously 🤷🏾‍♂️
