my school didnt have a bible but it did teach us that we could become pregnant from just kissing someone
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Frostcloud Must have been an Amish Bible. They teach their children that.
looking4thesun · M
@Frostcloud hmmm that's a helluva course
OldBrit · 61-69, M
Shouldn't the Torah, the Quran, the Vidas etc also be included
NortiusMaximus · M
I expect that will be challenged in the courts as being unconstitutional.

@SSDecontrol Wrong! I'm an Atheist. I would NOT be defending it if it were the Quran. I wouldn't even defend putting The Gospel of the Flying Spahetti Monster in every classroom, or posters of the Eight Condiments on classrom walls. Religion, of any flavour, has no place in schools.

As christianity gets less and less popular in the USA the fanatics get more determined to force their extremist beliefs on everyone, just like the Taliban do with Islam
Elessar · 26-30, M
It's in clear violation of the first amendment, if only you had a supreme court that would enforce it

@Elessar The christian evangelists would soon be up in arms if a law were passed requiring the holy book of some other religion be placed in every classroom.
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
The biggest heretics I knew came from church schools. 😂 The more they'll try to force religion on kids, the more they'll be hating anything religious. Isn't Marilyn Manson one of the best examples of it?
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
@Elessar Lyrics please. 😂

We did recite the Lord's prayer every morning before classes started and sometimes we had a Bible reading. It didn't harm us at all.
22Michelle · 61-69, T
@hippyjoe1955 Your posts say otherwise
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@22Michelle Yawn. Care to try to be original for once in your life?

@hippyjoe1955 After you!

It's a violation of the Establishment clause.

@SomeMichGuy sounds like the next states rights fight (legal weed , sanctuary city, abortion, gun permits , etc..)
SomeMichGuy · M
@AthrillatheHunt This has been an ongoing thing.

@SSDecontrol It is, and it will have the opposite effect of what it's promotirs envisage. They're destroying christianity, which is fine by me.

@SSDecontrol
Go jump in a billabong
Are you quoting the Holy Book and following its message?
looking4thesun · M
Personally i think religion has no place in the classroom. Especially in these diverse times
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
One for the library should surely be enough. I wonder if they are Trump Authorised Version bibles . .
Ducky · 31-35, F
That’s disgusting. Reprehensible. Shame on whoever made that law.
Shybutwilling2bfriends · 61-69
No and its wrong
Jessmari · 41-45
No. At best we had one or two in the school library among other religious texts. As it should be. You wanted to go further you created an after school club.
This of course was before all the budget/program/activities cuts over the years.

My grandson studied the three major religions in his private school in 8th grade and nobody got offended by the books they used. They weren’t promoting any of them but rather explaining each one and the history of it. It was a part of his history class.

I seem to remember something about the state making no laws about religion or similar?
HobNoblin · 36-40, M
My school in southern California had The Communist Manifesto.
Lugwho · 56-60, M
No. I don't remember any bibles at my school.

Why, yes! Huntington high in Hate Sylvania. We listened to gospel over the intercom every day, too! The principal hated reds as well. Openly. Murkans are the apocalypse.
At prep school we attended chapel.

Should be the American flag to start
pdockal · 56-60, M
Frostcloud · F
@pdockal im from one of the 47 states that do it
pdockal · 56-60, M
@Frostcloud
not all schools have flags in their classrooms because there is no federal law requiring it, and many states have different laws and guidelines. Some states require flags in every classroom, while others only encourage it. For example, New York State encourages public schools to display the American flag in their classrooms. In contrast, some say that teachers should have the choice of what goes up in their classrooms, and that the American flag is not always appropriate.

The same way you would feel of it were the Koran or any other religious text.... More brainwashing
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
Sounds more like bringing back an old law that was discarded 75 years ago .
Jenny1234 · 51-55, F
Our catholic schools definitely have them. I don’t know if our public schools have them
atlantic59 · 61-69, M

@pdockal It appears to be an attempt to indoctrinate the children with Christianity. Would you think it acceptable if all classrooms had to have a Quran/The Vedas/Guru Granth Sahib/Kojiki/Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster in them?
