Sure we discuss politics quite frequently, but for us it's not like in the US when people choose sides to argue because they are bored lol. My partner and I don't really have any reasons to disagree on anything since we are both rational people, so the discussions are simply about what's happening in the world.

@Nightwings I love how you think Americans have chosen the sides I've chosen because we're bored. There's literally a war going on right now in the form of legislating people out of existence, lol.
Nightwings · 31-35, F
@LordShadowfire Huh? I wasn't writing about you, and I don't know what specific thing you're referring to. I was just explaining what it means to me and my husband to "talk politics" in response to the original question.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@Nightwings I'm sorry. I must have misunderstood. Feel free to ignore me.
Torsten · 36-40, M
We have very different political views, so we keep that out of our convos. Imagine beine adults and not letting difference of opinions effect your relationship lol..
I repsect her opinion and she does mine. We know each others views, so no more needs to be said about it and we both would much rather talk of more interesting things anyway

I'm not in a relationship, but I absolutely would. A strong relationship could survive political differences, in my opinion, but it's also important that my partner and I agree on key issues such as the ones I'm always on about around here. Those are the hills on which I would die.

I have ONE RL friend with whom I can discuss politics...but he is VERY far right, and I disagree with how far he goes.
ElwoodBlues · M
My wife and I discuss politics at least a few times per week. We agree on a lot but not quite everything, and that's OK.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@ElwoodBlues I find that when you're able to have a civilized conversation with someone with whom you disagree, it's actually helpful. At least for me. It reminds me of exactly why I have those opinions, and if I don't have a good reason, I actually have been known to change my mind.
HiFiRaver · 18-21, M
Our politics are pretty much the same, but even then I don't really like talking about it because it's not a subject that I often find interesting to talk about. I like to read about it sometimes, but there are so many other things I'd like to talk about with him.
DearAmbellina2113 · 41-45, F
We do, and thankfully we're on the same page so we don't fight about them.
I’ve no idea what her political stance is. In 17 years of marriage it’s never come up.
ChiefJustWalks · 26-30
She discusses politics with me. I just listen mostly because I don't have a political stance & I can't vote anyway
Allelse · 36-40, M
Yep! It's best to be on the same page when it comes to religion or politics.
Jonjdw · 51-55, M
Sometimes. Not real important to us. I think we agree on most things. But not real important.
Rolexeo · 26-30, M
No, but if she doesn't approve of Joseph Stalin it's a dealbreaker for me
DoubleRings · 51-55, F
Yes but we are on the same page so it’s ok
mindstruggle · 31-35, F
I discuss politics with my partner just to remind them why I’m still single enough to ghost during election season.
Onryo · 22-25, FNew
I don’t like to discuss politics with anyone, people get too defensive and it causes arguments
Yes we talk about it ...we are on the same mindset with that
SaorUladh · 31-35, M
I don't discuss politics with anyone.

Okay. I'm only willing to vote for people if they promise to make it illegal to be shorter than 6'

No, the government is in for another four years. We pay our taxes. They don’t care about us, and we don’t care about them.
