I especially liked where Biden got on TV and said the federal government had given North Carolina all the aid they were going to get. Sadly you are correct. Biden and the Democrats do not like supporting red states. When hurricane Ian hit us in Florida Englewood recorded 209 mph sustained winds, but the federal government would only classify it as a category 4 hurricane. Every level of hurricane comes with a different level of aid. We were cheated! I paid $4000 to FEMA for flood insurance. When I filed a claim I was told to apply to the SBA for a loan, it was one of our rental properties that had the damage. Thankfully Trump started a go fund me page and is raising millions of dollars to aid North Carolina. I hope you and your family are safe with no damage.
@Cloud7593 Thank you very much for the Best Comment. I am glad your power came back. Ours was out for 10 hours this time. Four days for Ian and nine days for Irma. Fortunately we have a motorhome with a generator. We unloaded the contents of our refrigerator and brought it out to the motorhome. I hope you didn't lose the contents of your refrigerator.

@Cloud7593 Some people simply aren't smart enough to save their own lives. In today's world we know when major hurricanes are coming and the damage they cause. But everytime it seems that people sit on their butts and think that they won't get wet. Of course some people simply don't have the means to leave the danger zone but countless other do. And it costs a lot of money to get large trees cut down so that they won't fall on your house. Everyone in the area should know by now if they will get flooded out if the hurricane passes through.
So, it would be sensible if people took steps to leave the danger zone before the hurricane hits. Therefore, in the future if a person could have left the area but didn't and ends up dead, that is because of his own stupidity regardess of political party or religion.
Large areas of the South will soon be dead zones because of the weather and because the insurance companies will no longer insure regular house property unless the annual premiums are $20,000 or greater.

@Musicman That's a good point. You would have expected the damage in North Carolina if the hurricane had came up the eastern shore of Florida and curved in from the Atlantic. But the people in Florida didn't leave the impacted area despite know where it was going to hit.

@Allelse I've been very fortunate all of my life and haven't experienced any disasters. I've had a couple of accidents but no damage. I have a couple of medical issues but I'm not sick. I doubt if I could survive a major disaster. The people who do are much better than I am.

the national media downplays this historic, biblically catastrophic event because it happened to conservative Republican states
I'm sure this is what you think, but you're misinformed, probably by the "conservative" media you're watching.
It has nothing but Helene coverage, 24/7 and appeals for donations and funds to those who need them, and it's all over the media.
Seriously, wake up and blindly believing everything Trump tells you. You deserve better than this.

@Cloud7593
Which makes it even more important to be factual, or somewhat close it, not out starting rumors.
What if there was a rumor that one of the nearby bridges, in the thick of the storm, was out but really wasn't, and it's the only way out of town? Would you be a little be more careful about "informing people" using bad information?
just trying to inform people

@Cloud7593 you’re not informing anyone. You’re spreading hateful misinformation and pitting areas of the country against each other needlessly. I’m glad you’re ok.
I don’t know of any state, red or blue, that hasn’t had bad fortune at some point in time. NaturAl disasters don’t pick and choose in regards to politics. Anybody who believes that has been hitting the crack pipe.

the general lack of interest is amazing. College football goes on uninterrupted.

This is not true and I live also in a “red” state in your region.

That’s a crock of BS and fake news. The media has been covering all of it.
You’ve been reading and watching too much right-wing media.

Most of us have been following the situation closely on the news...and we are VERY much aware that Biden was on the beach in Delaware for TWO DAYS after the hurricane, that FEMA is no where to be found in North Carolina, (because they are all deployed on behalf of illegal immigrants at the southern border), and that Biden waited SIX days before finally giving the order to send in the military.

All coastal areas around the world are facing these calamities.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
You must have lost all access to the media. There has been incredibly coverage of the situation. The reporters on the scene state their difficulty in getting there stories out with no inte jet and cell service.i find it upsetting to see you trying to make this political!
Cloud7593 · 46-50, F
@samueltyler2 I had no power or Internet for a week. I'm going by what people have told me.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@Cloud7593 then those people had no access, give up the conspiracy theories!

If Trump was president, he could have stopped the hurricane!

@BlueGreenGrey it's all over local news for sure. From what I hear TV media is ignoring it. I don't live in Charleston I live in upstate SC.
