When I woke up on a cold day with a wet diaper. I thought to myself, this isnt exactly what I thought it would be.

I was a very small child - around 3. It was necessary for building defenses against abusive parents. I had to grow up fast.
The day that my mother, and I had to pick up my dead dog, Toby. He had been hit by a tractor, and I felt sorry for my mother, who had to scrape him off the street. I don't remember feeling sad, or anything for Toby, but I remember seeing his eyeball lying on the street, and steam was rising off of it, in the early morning. This fascinated me, and was my first memory. I was 1 yr. old.

My sister came at my first year birthday. That early arrival of "another" made me see stuff

Not sure what you mean by self-aware, and from the variety of responses you are getting there clearly is no consensus on definition either. If you mean earliest memory, about 4. If you mean that I was somewhat unique, more like 10 when I was bedridden for several years. If you mean truly cognizant of my limitations, 18 when, as a part of a foolish adolescent prank, I was thrown into a swimming pool, learned I couldn't learn to swim on the spur of the moment, and nearly drowned. A great lesson in one's own mortality and limitations.

I can remember events that took place when I was three. I had a sort of epiphany when I was nine years old when I was struck with the realization that I and everyone else was unique and experiencing the world through their own eyes and I could never see the world exactly as others do.

My first memory was at 20 months. I was aware the I was alive and that the doctor trying to pump the kerosene from my stomach was trying to keep me that way...

Well they told me I was talking by one. So probably became aware around that time

Can't remember a time I wasn't conscious of myself.
I'm the last of four - I imagine my siblings had something to do with it happening early - things routinely seemed "my fault" .
My sore ass definitely helped my sense of self awareness😏
