Is there a skill that most people have but you don’t and that you wish you had?

What is it and what’s stopping you from learning it?

Honestly? Sense of direction … that’s literally!
Cigarguys · 41-45, C
Jeremy always wanted to learn spanish, but it was not easy for him to learn new skills. 🥺
@Cigarguys Learning a new language takes me years, too.

@beermeplease She'd be an exceptional lesbian.
@beermeplease True, most women would be asking for your phone number

I wish I could operate heavy equipment like excavators, dozers and graders.
GoFish ·
@Sapio my husband did that stuff in the army ☺

I want to learn to play piano but I have no patience
BrandNewMan · 61-69, M
I could be better at "peopling" ..
Trust. I only want the skill some of the time though.
@NudasPriest I think trust is something that should be reserved for a select few, not given freely

🤔🤔🤔Practical mechanical skills. I believe it comes naturally to many, many people. They can look at something and figure out how to take it apart and FIX it. And EVEN put it back together again! I have only rudimentary skills in that department, and I rely on my mechanically gifted friend, Tom, and my cleaning lady for all the rest!
The ability to express thoughts clearly,

Think I just find people ... can't even think of right word right now lol
Play the violin like Mia Asano ( not sure of I spelled her name correctly)

The skill of wooing. What’s stopping me? I’m autistic and weird and for the life of me I can’t figure it out. I’m 38 and still never been in a romantic relationship before.
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
Driving.
Reasons: I'm scared, I learned to live without it, having a car is expensive
@CrazyMusicLover On the flip side, I think you'd be scared if you were my passenger too. 😉
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
@NudasPriest I tend to avoid people who drive like that, unfortunately, sometimes I need to use Bolt and then I'm afraid of letting the contents of my stomach out. I think I haven't been in a Bolt without getting sick yet. Bolt is our Uber.
@CrazyMusicLover I like accelerating around corners. My tyres make sweet music.

Social skills. Being able to do small talk with people.
HikingMan · 56-60, M
My communication skills need work.
For all my talent with words, when it seems to matter most, I often fail to listen and hear things correctly and formulate replies that land the way I want/need them to.

I am working on it. Especially for the times when I feel flustered or overwhelmed.
I'm getting better

Budgeting. I have dyscalculia and I just see numbers. My life would have been totally different if I didn't struggle as much with maths though.
Directions, navigating. I cannot find my way out of a paper bag. I now comfort myself that the absence seizures I have recently been diagnosed with have probably been happening for much longer. It would make sense if I zoned out before a crucial turn.

Of course, I don’t drive anymore…
@Mamapolo2016 Not sad. Ironic, but still funny.
I can’t whistle.
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
To not be socially awkward… To not hide my awkwardness in social situations by saying ‘pull my finger’
4meAndyou · F
@Thevy29 You crack me up!!!! 🤣🤣🤣
Punxi · F
The ability to pretend I’m okay when I’m not.
Most people seem to have mastered the art of disguising their pain, making peace with the unbearable, and carrying on as though nothing inside them has changed.
I’ve never learned to make a home out of pretending.

I feel too deeply, remember too much, and would rather be broken by the truth than comforted by a lie.
How to get what people mean from what they say.

I'm autistic - so I don't get the cues like neurotypical people do.
