If someone offered you a box with everything you’ve ever lost, what’s the first thing you’d look for ?

A ring my grandmother gave me when I was young.

Wow. Was about to go really dark side and say my dad. Sorry. Will recalibrate.

I will say his watch though. It was a Rolex face with a thick leather studded band. Definitely unique. Definitely him. I passed it down to my oldest and he left it behind somewhere in his old apartment. I wish I wasn’t still heartbroken over it, but unfortunately I am.
@PerfectionOfTheHeart i was going to say my mother. She's the only reason i survived my childhood. But, decided didnt want to bring people sadness by making them think of people. Sorry if i made you feel sad

Sorry about your watch. I foolishly lost my grandmothers ring. I am sure my mother felt same
PerfectionOfTheHeart · 46-50, F
@Bexsy No, no. The little girl in me will always attribute him to loss, just like your inner little girl will think of your mom. Thank gawd we had them both when we did. No sadness though. Only ❤

I do not tend to lose things. Usually just toss them out or give them away because they seem unimportant but then later I wish I had kept them. Usually for sentimental reasons.

So working with that, I had a friend in 5th grade and I had a picture of her that I threw out in a cleaning spree that I wish I had. I never saw her again after leaving elementary.

For actual "losses", that same year (5th grade), my year book was stolen and I wish I had that.
It was the best year of my life.

Okay here’s a perfect one. A long time ago I found a cassette tape in a Las Vegas bathroom! It was an expensive magnetic tape or I never would have touched it. The tape had a full album worth of songs by a group of women maybe trio. The songs were all great with catchy melody and just all had hit potential. I tried so hard to figure out if they were famous. I played the tape at various record stores but nobody could identify them. I played the tape as much as other music I loved. I accidentally lost the tape a few years later. Now a few lines of some of the songs are still in my head but that’s all. This was first thing thought of not counting living things.

@Boeing almost sounds similar to a few ex girlfriends! Want to hear worst part that I left out? I had made a copy and I misplaced that one too! (Wasn’t a quality copy though)!

@4thdimensiondream bodies and music share one thing, they're both made out of vibrations..

I think I’d look for this old, beat up stuffed dog I had as a kid.

He was missing one eye, his fur was matted from being washed too many times, and one of his ears barely hung on by a thread my mom sewed back in place over and over and over again. But I took him everywhere. He sat next to me in the car slept with me every night, and “guarded” my bed

When my parents argued, I’d sit in my room and talk to him like he understood it all. I told him my big plans, my fears, the names of the girls I had crushes He was the only one who knew all of it.

I remember the day I realized he was gone. I pretended it didn’t bother me because I was “growing up.” But I think that was the first time I felt something ended.

The Swiss watch a fighter pilot bought at the end of WWII in Europe. He was killed in a crash after the war, and his mother gave me the watch. It vanished during one of our moves.

I can't think of anything material. I don't tend to lose things. If there was something, it couldn't be anything important enough for me to remember.

Now if it was a box with everything that broke or got damaged, I would know about a few things.
My ability to truly enjoy life
TrunkZ · 61-69, M
Does that include pets who ran away or family members who passed?

If so, probably should poke a few holes in the box
@TrunkZ good idea
4thdimensiondream · 70-79, M
Oooh I love this question and mad 😠 I didnt think of it. I have to think about it. I’ll be back lol.
@4thdimensiondream ok, see you in a bit
@Softy1 oh. That's a good one
OMG! my figure and my brain (lots of brain damage) and my patience....my ability to have children (I don't have any kids and i wanted ten).

The rest of my blankie.
@Reject aw, dang 🤗
Reject · 31-35, M
@Bexsy He was a cotton blankie. He had depictions of this rabbit that stole carrots from an old man’s garden. Those pictures are all faded and unrecognizable now. He’s also lost all his cotton and he’s basically indistinguishable from old kitchen rags, but I love him just the same.

BrandNewMan · 61-69, M
Well .. I think I get my virginity back on the "time outta the game" rule soon anyway .. so .. not that
Unquestioned · 70-79, M
A German military belt that my dad brought home as a souvenir from World War 2. The last thing I would look for is my school reports that I lost walking home.
Boeing · 36-40

@Boeing all my socks 😁
Degbeme · 70-79, M
