My very first job was working part time at the town library in the Art/Music Department, stacking shelves mostly with books and LPs (yes, this was in the days before CDs). It was hard, dusty work.

At age 11, my friend and I went house to house asking people if we could cut their front lawns which were about 10x10 and we charged 50 cents...after a while we had a dozen or so regulars that we went to every week and made 5 or 6 dollars each which was a lot in 1970.

Selling satellite dishes and picture frames. I quit when the satellite business was shut down and also because the quality of frames were coming undone!

Paper Route. Up at 4 am to fold papers, then deliver them to the subscribers on my bicycle. Then home to wash my hands and back on the bike for school.

The summer I turned 16, I worked in a national park on a labor crew. They put us up in a tent camp in the woods. It was pretty sweet.

I was a maid for wealthy people who moved to our community from the South.

They were a trip, but not one I'd schedule again.

I cleaned my neighbours book shop. Then I walked their dog for the next 10 years. My first main job I worked in a care home for the elderly.

It was horrible. My boss was condescending and demeaning. He enjoyed flirting with my colleagues who were underage girls. I needed extra money so I tolerated the abuse. I was very amused when I found out that his favourites stole huge amounts of money from his business.

First paid job was playing the guitar in a school performance at 15. I got £20.i think.
