I have done a bit of theater, so when I was active in that it would not be unusual for a stranger who had seen a play I was in come up to me and comment.
But there also was a period of time when people would often say hello to me, mistaking me for a particular member of the city council in a nearby city.
Sometimes. I guess I seem approachable. I'm just as likely to speak to them first. If I see someone with a Maga hat, or something pretty, I have to compliment them. Or if I see someone lost or needing help, I will try to help them.
Quite a few times people have come up and greeted me as if they knew me. I have quite a few doppelgängers. I started asking where these women work and it’s not just one who they confuse for me but about 7 that I know of since I started asking.
@cherokeepatti i also have alot of dopplegangers. one of them used to do the morning show on local radio here. people would come up to me thinking i was him. one day i saw the dj in one of the stores here, we just kinda stared at each other for a min, and then gave each other the nod and laughed and walked away. LOL
They do. I don’t ask them, “Why me?” but I think I get it.
Optimally, we don’t sniff butts, but there IS body language going on. Now and again my daughter conducts “no eye contact!” seminars, but I flunk.
I grew up in a rural location and have lived “in the country” for a large part of my life. Strangers were rare. Strangers don’t scare me although maybe they should.
@Mamapolo2016 I’ve been told I look "stern" when I’m not smiling, but somehow children have never been put off by it, and a few times have come up to me and asked for help, like if they were lost.
@bijouxbroussard It may be in part WHO approaches you, and they may be looking for different things.
My attitude when out and about is basically, “Come one, come all,” because I’m almost criminally curious. Maybe THIS guy knows the answers. Or maybe there’s an interesting story here.
Once I was on the Roadrunner train on my way home, and the only other passenger in my car was probably in a disturbed psychotic state. All by himself. I don’t think he ever knew I was there. But along the way, the mildly alarming vocal violence morphed into singing hymns.
I sang harmony. Later when I told that story, people were aghast. “You’re going to get yourself killed.”
Well, not that time. When I got off the train, he was launching into “Some Glad Morning.”
@DrWatson I grew up near a mental hospital when I was a kid and my bus stop was very close to it. I could see them scanning the crowd waiting for the bus until they saw me and I knew they would approach. Now it happens less frequently. My wife keeps talking to them forever though, I have to pull her away lol
Mainly at the bar, if that counts. Men looking to chat with me. Some will even buy me a drink out of nowhere. I guess because they think I look good, lol.
@Unefilletrescurieuse yes. I am a magnet usually for the mentally ill. Maybe they heard I got the psych degree. Same as when I was dating. They find me. I don’t know how. They just did.
