What are your thoughts on Donald Trump's promise to reduce drug prices by up to 1400%?

Top | New | Old
AbbeyRhode · F
Who wouldn't be happy about that? I have family members who can't afford medications because of Big Pharma's greed. It's great to have a President who cares about the American people.
AbbeyRhode · F
@cherokeepatti True. They are consumed with hate, and will oppose literally anything he does, no matter how much it benefits everyone, including them.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@AbbeyRhode The ones who would lose are people who work for pharmaceutical company and the pharmacies. But there are so many who don’t have those type of jobs complaining about it. Oh and almost forgot, doctors, who get kickbacks from pharmaceutical companies for writing a certain amount of prescriptions for their drugs, and advertising makes big money for all kinds of media. Imagine how much they are spending annually on those two things alone?
nudistsueaz · 61-69, F
KingofBones1 · 46-50, M
Yeah that's why he's cutting Medicaid and slashing other medical research programs cuz he's going to do a lot for people in need. I believe that one for 10 cents. Joe Biden actually instituted a program similar to that has it been carried out that is the question
Khenpal1 · M
@KingofBones1 what is realistic
KingofBones1 · 46-50, M
@Khenpal1 what is realistic is Trump's going to make a whole lot of promises and end up supporting the corporate world
Khenpal1 · M
@KingofBones1 sound right , maybe ?
Charity · 61-69
Reduce drug prices 1400% then the pharmacy would owe the people money.

Just like he wasn't going to mess with social security, Medicare, Medicaid, chips, snap, he fired far too many of their staffs.

Where is the $5,000 for each American citizen from all the money the government is suppose to save from the firing of all those federal employees. Oh I know golf trips and a parade for him.
Carla · 61-69, F
I am looking forward to going to my local, village pharmacy and collecting a tidy sum each month. I hope trump will reimburse them.
@Carla He’ll pay in tRUMP Bucks!

Note to his brainless MAGA cult members: do NOT try this in real life. While he actually did peddle them and claim that they would be accepted anywhere just as official US currency, if you try to spend them you WILL be arrested. They’re just another of his countless cons.
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
Reducing the price by 100% means that the item is free.

I therefore assume that if I buy the medicine the pharmacy will pay me a large multiple of the original price.

Wow! Everybody will become fabulously wealthy overnight!
alan20 · M
@newjaninev2 Ha ha. That rationale is probably close to Trump's. How did the American people ever come to vote for such a half-wit ?
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@alan20 Yes, it provides the global community with constant entertainment watching the americans turn themselves into compliant subjects of King Donald.

Absolutely astonishing!

Considering they have consistently voted against capping drug prices I find it hilarious. I do know he happens to love drugs himself so maybe he’ll make meth less expensive.
@Captainjackass …that’s what he uses demoted former RALH Ronny Jackson for—his own personal controlled substances dispensary!
Zeusdelight · 61-69, M
Hilarious, he's trying to get Australia to get rid of its PBS system, so its residents pay the exorbitant prices people in the US pay.

He isn't interested in any of his large Corporate friends reducing their profits!!
Khenpal1 · M
@Zeusdelight next ear pain will be without pain killer
ArishMell · 70-79, M
That he needs learn simple arithmetic?

If he really said that, and if he meant it literally rather than merely exaggerating for effect, it would not be the first time he has displayed not understanding percentages. Which would be curiously naive for a property-speculator!

(If you reduce a selling price by 100%, the goods become free. Reducing by >100% means the seller pays the customer to take the goods away...)
Northwest · M
@ArishMell

If he really said that,

[media=https://youtu.be/-BDYVaWd1rE]
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@Northwest Hhe really did! A supposed businessman too. Trying to reduce what the taxpayers pay for medicines supplied via the State system is fine, but he seemed very unsure of basic money sums and how percentages work. I gained the impression he does not really know the figures.

Yet all the while he tries to claim personal credit for it? Was the work done by him or by ministers and civil-servants who are experts in that field?

Then I lost the thread completely when he drifted away to insulting someone personally, which is not fair or statesmanlike, rather than constructively criticising that person's official actions, which is fair if they were mistaken.
Northwest · M
I love it. Think of all the revenue going to the US Treasury. Every time I buy $100 worth of drugs, the company/country that makes them, refunds the card I used to buy them $1,400, which then the IRS can tax. MAGA.
DanielsASJ · 36-40, M
Majority of the pharmacy comes from Asia. While their manufacturing cost would be as low as $0.49 for a strip of 10 meds. They sell it to American companies which import these meds @ around say $20 a strip. It makes it 4000% so yes, it's possible but only if Trump brings back drug manufacturing industry to US or shifts that to some more friendly nation in Asia like Phillipines.
@DanielsASJ there's a difference between not doing the math for every case personally and saying something entirely different from what he meant. Wasn't one of the reasons he became popular that he always said exactly what he meant?
DanielsASJ · 36-40, M
@NerdyPotato If you wanna pull someone's leg then you can find a hundred mistakes. Don't you know what he was trying to convey?
@DanielsASJ no... His statement sounded like "I can do 20x better than the 80% reduction by democrats, so I'll just multiply that percentage".
FoxyQueen · 51-55, F
I absolutely want to get paid to take meds my doctor has prescribed!
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
If Americans were charged the same price for pharmaceuticals as people in other countries it would be around that much. And it would save money for both consumers and insurance companies and Medicare and Medicaid too.
Mine are all free and I get most of them from the VA mail service pharmacy. Collins is trying hard to ruin the VA while lying to us.
Nitedoc · 51-55, M
It's a great idea!
Nitedoc · 51-55, M
@NerdyPotato I don't think that's right, but whatever. Get a life!
@Nitedoc math doesn't care about what you think. This is how percentages work. 🤷
Nitedoc · 51-55, M
@NerdyPotato No it isn't!
helenS · 36-40, F
Oh and I thought people don't need any drugs at all anymore, since injecting UV light under the skin is perfectly sufficient as a cure against everything. And if that fails you can always inject Clorox chlorine bleach.
Don't worry, be MAGA! 👍🏼
"Up to" could mean anything from .0000000000000001% to 1400%. Promise kept.
The oldest advertising/marketing ploy since time began. Geeze, do I have to advise people on EVERYTHING? 🙄
Khenpal1 · M
@RoguishEyes not realistic
@Khenpal1 Neither is doing cartwheels and back flips while playing beach volleyball because you are drinking Pepsi. But they advertise it.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
Like most things he says, the ravings of a man suffering from dementia. He knows Biden accomplished something amazing and feels he has to gaslight everyone that he is a better negotiator. I would love to see almost any drop,withoutc screwing the world out of the development of new, innovative medications b
nudistsueaz · 61-69, F
I think it could happen. Trump is the MAN that gets things done. 👍
GuyWithOpinions · 31-35, M
🤨 so your saying if cocaine is $100 a gram, the government will pay me $1,400 to do it?

Im ok with that.
Pretzel · 70-79, M
if he cut them 100% it would make them free - if they are reduced 1400% then somebody is going to have to pay you for taking them...

where's that money coming from?

oh and how is it funded? Europe has to pay more for drugs or they won't be able to sell cars in the US....

hmmmm
Khenpal1 · M
@Pretzel I'm 1000% sure he's lying..wait maybe 1300 , 1500 or numbers that literally no one has seen before.
Noodnick · 56-60, M
Does that mean that they are going to be paying us to take our meds?
rhouse · 56-60, M
Who taught him math?
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@rhouse LOL! I expect he was taught properly... but did he learn it properly?
onewithshoes · 26-30, F
I certainly hope it happens.
@onewithshoes can you explain to me what that means then? Surely you wouldn't support something you don't understand.
HumanEarth · F
You mean I could buy weed at 1960s prices
HumanEarth · F
Yeah der hey and theres where Yous wanta to goes there. I'll meet you at the stop and goes don't yous know there
@HumanEarth Yoobetcha
HumanEarth · F
Its a Blubber not a drinking fountain
ToLivePeacefully · 31-35, M
Reducing the cost of medicine is good for people regardless of who is doing it.
This comment is hidden. Show Comment
@ToLivePeacefully absolutely! But beyond 100%? Can you explain how that would work?
ToLivePeacefully · 31-35, M
@NerdyPotato @KunsanVeteran

I have no comments or clue on what he said.

I just said its good if the process go down, that's all.
KatyO83 · 41-45, F
Those agreeing with this on here need to show their workings as I can't make it add up anyway 😂😂
Pretzel · 70-79, M
"up to"

I'm calling "bs"
HoeBag · 46-50, F
@Pretzel Maybe trump could add, "Individual results may vary."
Pretzel · 70-79, M
@NerdyPotato "numbers you've never dreamed of before"

I think he made it!
HoeBag · 46-50, F
@Pretzel Hey didn't trump say something like that?

"I am talking BIIIG numbers!"

Pfft, big number two really. 💩
Aww, Nitedoc blocked me because math didn't agree with his feelings... 🤣

His "promises" haven’t been worth spit so far…fool me once, etc.

About time someone did something about medical extortion 😤

This is what happens when the slow kid doesn't learn about negative numbers.
@BohemianBabe …the slow kid (we used to call him “Donnie on the short bus”) didn’t learn much of anything—and certainly no manners!
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
Trump supporters take him seriously, but not literally, Trump detractors take him literally, but not seriously.
caPnAhab · 26-30, M
Sounds great. At the cost of what though?
Khenpal1 · M
@caPnAhab when do price go down ?
caPnAhab · 26-30, M
@Khenpal1 hopefully. I'd love to see it
Imgoingcrazy · 26-30, FNew
He's a stand up president comedian
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
What's this got to do with penguins?
Vin53 · M
He can only talk in hyperbole and exaggerated superlatives because he has no grasp of the fundamentals, the details, the nuances associated with anything. It's all broad strokes of inflated numbers or importance, because the subtle workings of any system is lost on TFG.

Not only is he addled by early onset of dementia, he lacks the discipline to do any homework in order to know what the real issues are or how anything works.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
Too good to be true. Especially as he's intentionally jacking up the price of insulin right now as we speak.
KatyO83 · 41-45, F
That's not mathematically possible obviously unless you're going to be paid huge sums for taking drugs
Just more BS from the biggest BSer of all time.

I am simply amazed that even his lowest IQ cultists haven’t yet realized that all he’s feeding them is his same old load of ***CENSORED***!
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@KunsanVeteran personally, it is all a smokescreen! Do not look past the take over of education. The radicals are driving the movement to control all education, who will teach and what! They want to control the minds of the citizens. That is how dictators have always worked. Those who control the educational system control the citizens, this has recurred throughout history
HoeBag · 46-50, F
Was this "promise" raised before or after the Epstein philes, er, files scandal?
@HoeBag in the middle of it, on July 22nd.
HoeBag · 46-50, F
@NerdyPotato No shock, I would have bet money on that. TWENTY DYOLLARS! :D
Madmonk · M
I think this subject is a dumpster fire. The admins of this site should steer away from topic.
Josh1454 · M
Don’t worry people, we’re going to pay you to take these drugs.
Allelse · 36-40, M
It's a lie.
Musicman · 61-69, M
I hope he does.
Vin53 · M
Ordinarily, this would be 26th amendment stuff. I mean, clearly, the President is mentally unfit.

But half the country seems okay to be complicit in child rape, so, I'm not surprised.
Khenpal1 · M
@Vin53 Well , seems many are ok with it .
CorvusBlackthorne · 100+, M
One cannot reduce the price of anything by more than 100%.
