basically what the democratic party attempts to be, but political realities & lobbying make that infeasible.

Until the constitution itself is made to reflect those principles in a clear and concise manner no such political party will have any kind of weight.
And in this two party system such changes are impossible. Notice the democrats abortion issue, that even some conservatives were in favor, the bill was a federal bill. If it would have been passed SCOTUS would have ruled it unconstitutional!
There's no win in such a situation. The constitution must be changed first.
As is, the constitution is being held hostage by a group of five political extremists through the method of interpretation of purposely unclear constitutional amendments.
It's like having criminals in charge of interpretation of the laws. It just a no win situation.

We're stuck in a 2-party system whether you like it or not, be glad we don't live in 1-party communist China system.
Barry Commoner ran as the Citizens Party candidate in 1980, focusing on ecological issues. He got 233,052 votes (0.27 percent of the total). Commoner and the Citizens Party had admirable ideas, but the average person was too dumb to care. He had good ideas but wasn't entertaining to the masses.

Common sense is not common enough to be popular. Neither is intelligence, freedom of speech or evidence based thinking.
People like political propaganda, dogma and pseudo-science.

@TheGreatestEver123 And the masses need to be entertained or they won't pay attention; bread and circuses.
You’re an optimist, I’ll give you that. Common sense has never trumped ( no pun intended) political desire for power.

Because if it's common, it likely doesn't make any sense, and if it makes sense, it's likely not common.
Be nice if it was that easy.

@badminton @sunsporter1649 Not to mention the first thing out of the box is "no law respecting an establishment of religion". Explain that to Evangelical Christians who keep trying to ram their religious beliefs into the legal code.

@sunsporter1649 Some of "we"; some other gods than yours; some no gods at all.
