You've described the weak point - the lack of explanation - so does no-one question that?
sree251 · 41-45, M
@ElwoodBlues
BTW, I'm born and raised in the USA, as were my parents.

So were my dogs, Elwood. You are just an anchor baby.
@sree251 says
Getting born in the USA doesn't qualify you to be an American
DEAD WRONG!!!
That is, in fact, the official Constitutional definition of an American citizen.

BTW, I'm born and raised in the USA, as were my parents. How about you??

Go ahead, proceed with your "no true Scotsman" fallacy; it's amusing🤣😂

@ElwoodBlues We know, you might not always be right, but you are never wrong

@HoeBag I had a stepson join the Marines and he knew what he was getting into. But it got to much for him when they had a practice mission that was all too real. I know what you are saying. He was given a dishonerable discharge for over acting. That is something he also knew what he was doing. He was a little Damion and hellion as a kid. He's paying for actions in his older age.

You had a stepson? Did he die or what?

But it got to much for him when they had a practice mission that was all too real. I know what you are saying. He was given a dishonerable discharge for over acting. What do you mean "paying for actions"?
HoeBag · 51-55, F
@Gibbon I guess some kids never really grow up.

I do not know how much a dishonorable discharge affects someone's future; they say it does but often times we are threatened that something will ruin our entire life but then some people go on to live good and normal lives.
Miram · 31-35, F
Most people in the world just want to lead normal lives and live peacefully.

And for that to happen, most people in the world, mine and yours, have to care about the cost and be responsible enough to wish to decrease it.

It is a universal truth.

@MoveAlong trump makes it up as he goes along. Claims the military has obliterated Iran's missile sites, yet Iran lobs missile after missile into Israel every night.

Yeah it is easy to support a war when neither the person nor their sons are having to go fight.

Yeah it is easy to support a war when neither the person nor their sons are having to go fight.

Don't forget the daughters, and wives even. We are an equal opportunity nation. We allow tattoos, make up and nail polish in the US military.
HoeBag · 51-55, F
@sree251 Yeah I should have said that. Just how it is easy to support a conflict from the sidelines when someone doesn't have to risk the safety of themselves or their loved ones.

As the rest of us sit home and argue on the web or maybe lay around watching TV, we cannot imagine what it is like being in some sh*t hole country having to risk our lives.
Picklebobble2 · 61-69, M
Trump knows carpet bombing is easy and he has no problem taking (whatever passes for 'intelligence' out there) such action as long as it plays well in whatever polls he's been told to follow.
No matter how many apartment blocks his (or maybe Netanyahu's) missiles hit.

He made that stupid statement trying to encourage the population to 'rise up', and when people did he didn't follow through with support and as a result protesters have been arrested; beaten to death on the streets or taken away from their families presumably to be tortured for information (a familiar step in the Iranian crackdown on dissent playbook) Never to be seen again.

Any way you slice it for every 'positive' from this decision there seems to be ten 'negatives'.
And those of you that follow history will be aware that we're probably about to see a return to the old days of 'terrorist cells' infiltrating allies in the region if not far closer to home.

Pure evil with the right to vote!

I agree. I voted for the bastard. I still can't get over how I stepped on dogshit with my eyes wide open.
@sree251 it was not hard to spot that Trump's extremely pro war and has never once expressed any coherent political position against any wars. When he talked about ending the endless wars, he also said that Venezuela was near collapse when he was president the first time, and we were going to take it and all that oil. Coherent politicians were running.

True.

We have a good life here in America and it comes with a price some on us have to pay. It is not you and it is not me but it is all those who drew the short end of the stick.
HoeBag · 51-55, F
@sree251 America starts wars, yet there hasn't been any real threat to our country for God knows how long.
@whowasthatmaskedman A lot of politicians are draft dodgers. I remember that was the gripe when Clinton was in office.
sree251 · 41-45, M
@whowasthatmaskedman
I was to twist this a little, by saying that no one should have the power to ask their service people to fight anywhere, for any reason, unless they are prepared to have their own family serving on the front line.

So, how come no one thought of blocking that power of the government? It is not difficult to put that condition in the law. In times of war, all politicians in office shall be drafted to serve in the front line facing the enemy.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@sree251 I should think the answer is obvious.. Politicians make the law. They arent going to sent their own kids. And can you imaging Trump or Lindsey Graham in a battle? Its ridiculous. However, twisting that idea around, how about barring anyone from elected office who has not served in the military with an honourable discharge?😷
MoveAlong · 70-79, M
Well said.

He usually skates by on most issues because his base won't speak up even when they don't agree with him. This is a little different. This fool's errand is affecting every family very obviously and in real time.
Musicman · 61-69, M
Actually you are sadly mistaken. Can you honestly tell me you would feel safe if Iran had nuclear capabilities? And that you are happy with the 90,000 civilian's they killed just for protesting the regime?
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@sunsporter1649 So what great existential threat does Iran pose to the US? Please give serious thought to it. The US is in the middle of losing a war with massive damage done to its bases, aircraft and ships and should the US send in its troops they will be slaughtered. Then there is the international reputation. The US can't win a war. It lost to Afghanistan and Yemen and now Iran is kicking the crap out of the US and all the US can do is carpet bomb civilians. So again what purpose is there in attacking Iran a country that posed no threat to the USA.

@whowasthatmaskedman Well, I am neither Americna nor a resident in the USA so I'll leave the domestic politics to those who are, but the international politics are certainly everyone else's business; and I regard Mr. Trump and some of his ministers as very dangerous internationally.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@ArishMell I couldnt agree more.. Of course, as we can all see American actions still have global consequences. And only satisfaction we have is that ultimately those consequences will be worse and more long lasting for Americans than for the rest of us...😷

Trump didn't start that operating principle. The US has done that since its inception. I think every nation does the same. Each nation has lies that it tells itself to keep the people believing in the purpose of said state.

@hippyjoe1955 Chinese geologists say North Korea's main nuclear testing site has collapsed under the stress of five successive bomb tests.

A mountain above the notorious facility has collapsed, a study found, rendering it unsafe for future testing and presenting a serious risk of radiation leaking.

The paper's authors, Tian Dongdong, Yao Jiawen and Wen Lianxing, urged that authorities "continue to monitor any leakage of radioactive materials" in view of the "research finding that the North Korea nuclear test site at Mantapsan has collapsed".

The findings follow an announcement by President Kim Jong Un that North Korea would cease activity on its weapons testing programme.
