The American people are not onboard with what's going on in Iran.

The war is turning into the ultimate test of an operating principle that has guided Trump for decades: construct a narrative, declare it to be true and relentlessly force the world to submit to it. It has proved effective in Manhattan boardrooms, on reality television and even at the heart of power in Washington.

Trump is an influencer who believes in the power of suggestion. The American people are not on board with what’s going on because he cannot articulate an argument for why we’re there or what victory actually looks like. Above all it is immoral both in substance as well as in execution.

Yeah I should have said that. Just how it is easy to support a conflict from the sidelines when someone doesn't have to risk the safety of themselves or their loved ones.

True.

As the rest of us sit home and argue on the web or maybe lay around watching TV, we cannot imagine what it is like being in some sh*t hole country having to risk our lives.

We have a good life here in America and it comes with a price some on us have to pay. It is not you and it is not me but it is all those who drew the short end of the stick.

@sree251 I was to twist this a little, by saying that no one should have the power to ask their service people to fight anywhere, for any reason, unless they are prepared to have their own family serving on the front line. 😷

@sree251 America starts wars, yet there hasn't been any real threat to our country for God knows how long.
@whowasthatmaskedman A lot of politicians are draft dodgers. I remember that was the gripe when Clinton was in office.

So, how come no one thought of blocking that power of the government? It is not difficult to put that condition in the law. In times of war, all politicians in office shall be drafted to serve in the front line facing the enemy.

@sree251 I should think the answer is obvious.. Politicians make the law. They arent going to sent their own kids. And can you imaging Trump or Lindsey Graham in a battle? Its ridiculous. However, twisting that idea around, how about barring anyone from elected office who has not served in the military with an honourable discharge?😷

Politicians make the law.

Technically speaking, yes; but politicians are our representatives, our gofers, so to speak. How come they got to become our rulers?

@sree251 I love the childlike innocence in your reply..In theory, a hundred years ago, you were right. Then big money started to take over the newspapers and control the message, and bid transport bought influence with "donations" and favours. And banks and finance really got into the money making business, making the rich anonymous. So the politicians (and judges) now work for the rich.. Thats Capitalism.. What could possibly go wrong??😷
