So, let me understand where you are coming from... Because he served in the military (something which I have previous said should be a prerequisite for some law enforcement jobs.) This act is somehow less severe than if he was a proud boy type.? Or does his military conditioning give him a mind set where this kind of war time reflex is more likely to result in a meaningless tragedy? I will state up front I dont think he and his buddies should have been there doing that job in the first place..That was how to prevent this happening..😷

@whowasthatmaskedman no. I am saying don’t prejudge him or others because of that - it is independent of the incident. Just as the right should not prejudge the victim, because was a lesbian, liberal, or whatever.

@trollslayer OK. As long as the whole thing gets properly investigated and judged..I have a view that collisions like this were bound to happen, with one side carrying guns and authority and the other side carrying the belief they are actually protected by nothing more than "freedom"..Freedom doesnt stop bullets, clearly..😷

Not sure if husband and father means anything. Nor does a career path. Because that path demands certain things. And law enforcement as a police officer is a different animal than as an ICE officer. ICE doesn't protect.
Zero question that his family shouldn't be harassed. That comes from the dregs of society. It's weak and emotional. He should be judged alone and solely on his actions.
But the reality is Noem called this domestic terrorism. It wasn't. And it wasn't self-defense.Three shots inside a moving vehicle is not policy. Deadly force cannot be used to prevent a person's escape. Full stop. And that's what happened.
And on a personal note I don't find being an ICE officer a respectable career path in any way. Doesn't matter in this situation. All that matters is went down. And we SAW what went down. If he walks it's a shot across the bow with a message for Americans. "OBEY or die." That's not who we are. That's not who anyone should be.

@trollslayer The thing is, what you do in life, be they actions or words, always reflect back on others - family and friends. Everything has implications.
Shooting someone dead obviously has implications on the victim, and it has on the victim's family...and as it has on the perpetrator's family.
You lay down with dogs, you're going to get fleas.
So his family will be brought into this too. Not a troll, but his actions...those are the implications. He should have thought of that before firing.

@KarenDuponteDurose that’s a fact of life. Thanks for the comment.

This is my opinion.
1) If you serve with an army of thugs, you’re going to be thought of as a thug. This should be a surprise to no one.
2) While I too hate that families are dragged into these matters, that’s how it goes. He apparently gave no thought to his family before he shot.
3) He gave no indication of considering that his murder victim might be more than an annoying mosquito. She was also a mother. To me there are very few instances when shooting someone in the back is justified and this isn’t one of them.
4) Do we forgive those who hitch their wagon to a dark star? Not usually.

@Mamapolo2016 thank you for your input.
I'm not sure law enforcement working for the Trump regime is in fact a respectable career choice though.
This one, assuming he actually does get charged, which I think is pretty up in the air, will be tough for the jury.
I do agree, though, that his family will be victims, albeit of his choice to serve Trump.

@trollslayer I hear you and its unfortunate, but it's pretty obvious that anyone working for the Trump regime may be called on to do illegal and immoral things.
My guess is, at the end of the day, this guy will get axed, not for killing this woman, but for getting caught on tape doing it.

Just because someone wore another uniform doesn't mean they are well trained or made good decisions.
In fact this might be reason to dig into their military history too.
Because shooting someone 2 more times after they are down and unarmed and then denying them medical care also happens to be a war crime on a battlefield.
And Dennis Rader was a family man too. That doesn't mean anything.

And the poor guy has been traumatized by cars in the past, why wasn't he behind a desk?
Why are Americans justifying murder... again?

@sunsporter1649 I'm certain those numbers are bogus but I won't even bother to look that up because what you described is literally the current administration.

@GermanAf well, 25,000,000 in 4 years is impossible. And assuming all are rapists and murderers (including the children) paints a grim view of humanity.

@GermanAf I think it’s a well established fact by this point in time that absolutely NO ONE in the entire Demented Donnie misadministration was ever properly and thoroughly vetted!
dancingtongue · 80-89, M
he is not an untrained “proud boy”
Let us not forget that the Proud Boys began as a group of former military. Contrary to the views of Hegseth & Trump, the military was not entirely "woke" before they took office.
PicturesOfABetterTomorrow · 41-45, M
@dancingtongue That is actually the 3%ers or the Oath Keepers. The Proud Boys believe it or not was started by Gavin mcInnes former co founder of Vice News as a bunch of alt right hipsters from Canada. Wish I was kidding.
But you are right that there has been a far right problem in the military for decades.

Thank you for posting this. This is the best & most revealing coverage I have seen to date.
trollslayer · 46-50, M
@KunsanVeteran i felt the need because I know public servants (forest service, BLM, game wardens) who have been demonized and categorized by the actions of others or unsubstantiated conspiracies (usually from the right). Yes, I disagree with ICE’s tactics and mission, but I am not going to assume things about ICE agents based upon that.
KunsanVeteran · M
@trollslayer I fully concur. The post you made filled in some gaps and confirmed some of my suppositions of what the most likely course of events were in this highly chaotic incident.
ElwoodBlues · M
Jonathan Ross's address is about 30 minutes from where the killing took place. News says neighbors saw trucks in front of his house and boxes being hurried out.
trollslayer · 46-50, M
@ElwoodBlues i created this post in hopes of a constructive dialogue that deals with facts and not lies. Something about the woman having a son the same age as my son gave me great pause that we need to find what we agree on so this doesn’t happen again. I have tried to steer filks from both sides to stick to the facts. I have deleted several of Sunsporter’s duplicate posts for repeating the same lies over and over.

@SunshineGirl I’m trying to reign myself in hoping for an impartial investigation. Sadly, that won’t happen.
KunsanVeteran · M
@trollslayer @MethDozer I think we all know what the root cause of this incident was. It was the same individual who immediately issued an official statement packed with vile, incendiary lies that were highly prejudicial, the same individual who caused the January 6th Capitol riot, the same individual who ordered the extrajudicial murders of close to a hundred foreign nationals by our military in international waters, the same individual who recently ordered the violation of a sovereign nation that we are not at war with and committed at least two kidnappings…
I will give everyone three guesses who I am talking about…
…and the first two won’t count!

@KunsanVeteran is he a symptom or a cause? Or a contibutor?
KunsanVeteran · M
@trollslayer Are you asking about tRUMP or Ross?
tRUMP = prime mover/root cause
Ross = Insufficient data. That’s part of what a judge and/or jury should decide

Ross = Insufficient data. That’s part of what a judge and/or jury should decide
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
And that excuses him how? If anything, you'd think experience MIGHT lead him to make better decisions. Or does the fact that he is a veteran mean he was trained to kill professionally, which might NOT be the best background for a law enforcement officer?
KunsanVeteran · M
@ChipmunkErnie To tell the Truth: Law Enforcement Officers make pretty crappy soldiers and vice versa. The two roles are very different with different training requirements and different core competencies.
The base near where I live has city police rotate with Active Duty for Gate duty (pretty much amounts to checking IDs) and a lot of city police are veterans. Domestic police work doesn’t bear a lot of similarities to deployed situations.
It gets complicated, complicated gets chaotic, and confusion & poor communication is not uncommon. Training together helps, but usually it only involves the simpler, safer tasks.
And we all know that the entire tRUMP misadministration knows nothing about vetting, training, or supervising anyone and the people at the Top are amongst the least qualified (e.g. Noem, Hegseth, Kennedy, Patel, etc.)

@ChipmunkErnie it doesn’t. I posted the article just to provide information so that others could make their own determinations rather than spreading rumors or conspiracies. I am not excusing him in any way. Frankly, I think I think the opposite. If he was some single proud boy that joined up last september, it would be more understandable. But veteran father with 10 years on the force i would expect better discipline, common sense, and care for human life

@trollslayer Remember that same military also counted Pete Hegseth and JD Vance among them, and the sadists who worked at Abu Graib and Gitmo.
A uniform unfortunately does not mean uniform discipline and competence.
And to me this feels like someone who got away with something before.

I dont care whk he is or what his past is. He murdered a woman for trying to pull away from him and sent car rolling down the street in a residential neighborhood after sending out three bullets. Putting other people in avtual danger that he was not avtually in as is clearly seen by every video being presented.
All because "she annoyed him really bad".
Leave his wife and kids alone but this guy clearly isnt fit to be any kind of officer and make rational decisions in the situations.
And lets be real, it isnt like DHS is a great organization known for reasonable and respectable recruits ever. Lets also be real, being ex military is completely irrelevant. If even argue that the amount of ex miliatry filling police rolls is a huge part of the police problem in this country. We treat military and policing as realated and adjacent fields, bht they really aren't.

@trollslayer I am making no such claims. Not about Ross. Trump’s obvious dementia speaks for itself.
As part of my service, I ran the Wounded Warriors programs at three different medical groups totaling 8 years. This included the second and third largest USAF Medical Groups. I am well aware of the demons these veterans can be forced to live with day in and day out.
As is typical of tRUMP’s misadministration, I believe that it is more likely than not that Ross was not properly screened for this type of job in the environment Demented Donnie has turned our society into.
But Ross was not in a situation that justified the use of deadly force. In fact, in the chaos and conflict that ICE had precipitated, that should have been strongly pre-briefed to every agent on the scene. Want to bet whether or not that happened? In fact, in everything I have seen & read, I can’t even tell who was in charge of the scene. Who was the Incident Commander?
Now there’s certainly mitigating factors and I am certainly sympathetic to Ross, but tRUMP’s, Noem’s, and others share a great deal of responsibility for what happened.
As always: “You can delegate authority, but you CANNOT delegate responsibility”
