I can't help but notice that while Americans discuss their political positions, the world is moving away from America. America has isolated itself from its' traditional allies, and trading partners, and bullied everyone, even their closest friends and allies.
But don't let that bother you, while you while you ponder your political position on any issues, or how you might vote next time..I don't think it will make any difference to you, or to anyone.

There are no people. There are only points of view. Viewpoints are irreconcilable. They represent findings that are so different from each other that they cannot be made compatible.
America's greatness is a point of view that stems from pride that breeds arrogance. And hate is the emotion vented by the high on the low.
The future is bright when each citizen keep an eye on another taking nothing for granted.
Maybe one day people will at least respect one another, whether they are on the left or the right of the political spectrum.

I think a lot of pointless political hatred is dividing America, which has been a great country.

If a country's citizens do not at least respect one another, then what is their future?

@sree251 Actually, there are people. Lots of them. And Americans should care about that, not just opinions.

Yes, Americans should care about people, and they do care as evidenced by the billions of their tax dollars that go to funding foreign wars to protect their freedom and humanitarian aid to help them recover from the devastation. Money talks, and it backs up US opinions.

Evidence that can hold up to scrutiny. The more you learn to listen to the other side, you start to realize that things are much more nuanced than partisans with opposing agendas like to make them out to be. I find time and time again that the truth is usually somewhere in the middle.
A lot of times political parties don't really represent my views at all, but force me to settle on things that are close enough or just good enough

true that!

My political position really depends on the current issues at hand. I will vote for whatever party that I think has the best ideas in actually solving the issues. But I'll never vote for an extreme left nor extreme right party.
It helps that I'm not American and here in the Netherlands we get more than just 2 choices.

@sree251 Social democrats and green party are non-viable in the USA. It's the exact same as if they didn't exist, as the choice will ultimately be between neoliberals and far-righters.
In Europe, social democrats and green parties can very well be part of governing coalitions, and have actual leverage on the other parties in the coalition by threatening to "pull the plug" and induce a govt. crisis if their demands aren't adequately met.

I roam in the left (social dem), center and even center-right (liberal) portions of the political spectrum all the time. Depending mostly on the issue.
I don't think there's anything that will make me go far-right (intended as: fascist or "libertarian", American style) or far-left (intended as: anarchist, marxist and such) if not at most on individual issues, but never enough to vote any such parties.

i feel like we are moving into a world more and more where data is king and "follow the evidence" / "follow the data" is the way to go. In that idea i would be apt to change position (and have in the past) based on data and evidence .
If the other side championed human rights for ALL people despite religion, gender and race.
If the other side held pharmaceutical companies responsible for price hikes and dissolved their loyalty to insurance companies (which are financial institutions)
If the other side had a comprehensive gun reform plan that was bipartisan.
If the other side exhibited intelligence, compassion and integrity without vitriol, hyperbole and blatant lies.
... it doesn't look like I will be changing anytime soon.

If all the countries dissolved and we recognized ourselves as humans from earth.
If we let go of the archaic hierarchical structure of giving all the power of millions of people to a single person, because humans are easily corrupted by power.
When we no longer use currency so theres no more classes of people but instead use our vast reasources and technology spread evenly across the world for everyone
When i turn on the news and see propaganda for the good of humanity rather than to slander the opposing party or indoctrinate the people for power or wealth.
When a committee of leaders are chosen for for thier knowledge and skill rather than vote for how well they can convince people with empty promises and slick words.

I would never ever vote Republican but after Biden and Kamala I'm ashamed to be a Democrat. I doubt I will ever waste my time voting again.

The whole world actually changing instead of a deadlock.
I have said often enough that life is change.
It's time the world take a clue from reality.
Or it will be destruction instead.
Those of you that believe you are in a safe haven, well ... you are not. If you are on this earth, you are not in a safe place.

This is interesting. Exactly the type of people I expected to say evidence would change their mind have done so, with the exception of one person. I never would have expected the Herman Munster guy to say evidence would change his mind.

I'd have to see evidence that racism, homophobia, and unregulated greed (capitalism) are actually good for the country.
