@specman And the longest and most expensive war ended with the US running away leaving their gear behind them. What an utter waste of human live and money. I met a young man who served and almost died in Afghanistan. He was riding in an armoured vehicle when it was struck by an IED. He woke up in Germany barely alive. Many months later he realised that his life was changed forever. He had suffered heart damage and his body was still full of shrapnel from the explosion. Such a needless and foolish war.
@hippyjoe1955 I am proud of him! I thank him for his service and sacrifice. My son is a US MARINE, he is in an amphibious attack unit on a ship somewhere. I’m worried for him, but this is why he joined five years ago. I’m very proud of him!
@specman I served my time as an officer in the CAF. I came out with a very jaded view of military service. I don't thank people for their service knowing what I know. They were sent as meat to the meat grinder.

Nazi Germany's goal was to fight the Bolsheviks. Suddenly the Bolsheviks were our friends and the minute Nazi Germany was eliminated the Bolsheviks were again our mortal enemy. Of course in your black and white world view there is no room for nuance.
