10 years from now the world will be more right leaning than left leaning. i know that much. what i don't know is what such a world would look like.

what do you reckon?

in the year 2014 I was arguing for left-leaning ideologies. enter 2024, and the world I wished for was here—and it's nothing like what I imagined.

now, I'm right-leaning, and if my personal experience is anything to go by, in the year 2034, right-wing ideologies will be the dominant ideology. but what would such a world look like... would it also be nothing like what I would imagine 🤔

Sorry to interrupt, but the world exists outside the USA. There are millions of people who have no clue of what left and right means in the USA or so called Western world because they have completely different culture, history, mentality, politics and internal problems within their country or region.

@Reason10 German CDU, Forza Italia, Italia Viva, Macron's party (whatever is the name I don't remember), American Democrats, Starmers' Labour, Australian Labour, Canadian Liberals just on top of my mind
@CrazyMusicLover the rest of the world is to the left of the USA and it's aware. Who speaks for the global majority? Probably the UN minus the USA.

The ONLY constant in the world is change. I would hope and pray that most of TRUMP's ideas influence us 10 years into the future...for a world of peace through strength, adherence to the law, and the absence of corruption.

Unknowable, yet here is what an AI says...

Question modified slightly to reflect the real meaning...

Q. 10 years from now the USA will be more right leaning than left leaning.

Predictions about the political landscape can vary, but recent trends show that while more Americans identify as socially conservative, there is also significant support for liberal policies on issues like abortion and LGBTQ rights.

The future political alignment will depend on various factors, including voter engagement and demographic changes.

It basically said the same thing without me asking it.
ffony · M
Whether someone's political preference gets labelled 'left' or 'right' is irrelevant. What's important is the action they support on individual issues.

But there's a huge portion (majority?) of the population that would rather use labels than go to the bother of thinking.
Cierzo · M
Hopefully you are right, but there is still a long way to go. I am hopeful, though, cesarism is on the rise and liberal democracy is ebbing.
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
People never tolerate isolationism for too long.

The worry for me is that governments will be elected with ever smaller majorities and upper houses will have no majorities so ultimately everything grinds to a halt.
Then you're at the mercy of the likes of Musk and worse seeking to create a world in their image.
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@thrash Well personally I think he tries to come across as an 'influencer' with his seemingly endless opinions on everything which he posts on his own platforms...yet demands the right to remove and even ban others who post opposing views.

All of which is fine...until you read endless stories about his supposed 'influence' with seats of real life power at U.S. Presidential level that could (if true) close or redistribute money or degrees of power to different bodies that aren't elected and have no accountability to the public.

@gol979 i just looked into this. all "you cant hide" means is that you cant hide digitally. because he will give internet to the whole world. tha's not a bad thing, cmon. if that's so bad then turn your internet off.
gol979 · 41-45, M
@thrash oh yeah.....i forgot that the entities that are saying "you cant hide" will be honest and not market their agenda as "giving you internet".
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
No, I disagree. This is a passing phase in one small corner of the world. The global challenges we face can only be solved by cooperation and compromise. The world will either grasp this quickly or we will all perish.
Hey, 10 years from now? There’s no guarantee we’ll be here. That is pessimistic view but a truthful one.
thrash · 31-35, M
@soar2newhighs well trump is here now so we will live another 10 years

lol
@thrash You’re an optimist…a good thing. But I don’t place all my eggs in any politician’s basket. Too many players on the world stage.

At the height of Brexit, a lot of people maybe even the majority believed the UK was just the first of a long series. What happened next, is that the rest of the continent realized how dumb it was, and how the Brits shoot at their own feet, and all the similar movements/parties in the rest of the continent fell below 1%.

Trump may be doing the same thing with (far-)rightwingism.
thrash · 31-35, M
@Elessar interesting take 🤔
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
You ever watch the movie: Escape from New York?

Bruh, Trump is doing a Destroy America speed run. This is going to encourage the rest of the world to vote for left-wing policies. Everyone is going to see America go from being a world power to a third world dump.
Unfortunately, America is very close to losing democracy, which means Americans might be stuck in a right-wing hellhole for a few decades.

Good, far left are snowflakes.

@Gingerbreadspice Yup. They melt and fade away instantly when they touch reality.

@Gingerbreadspice The Right cried for over a year because there was a trans chick on one can of beer.

Both created to cause divide.

Same bird two wings 🦅
thrash · 31-35, M
@SW-User i agree with the gist of your point

but, out of the two, ] i feel like right wing ideologies stand more of a threat to [the powers that be] than the left ......it's why the left are supported by [the powers that be]

right-wing ideologies foster a population that can revolt. I'm not so sure that the fairies are threat to anything
SW-User
@thrash

The left is a threat, both sides are, they just play both sides to fool people.
thrash · 31-35, M
@SW-User actually yeah you right

Left and Right thought in America has been on a sliding scale, even since the 50s.

Example:

There's NO WAY the Democrats in the 80s would get away with using Social Security funds to pay for DEI programs on the other side of the world. There's NO WAY The Democrats of the 80s would have used USAID money to fund sex change operations for CHILDREN in this country, as well as other countries.

In the 80s, Democrats were BEGGING President Reagan for tariffs to help protect American union jobs. Today, they are SCREAMING BLOODY MURDER that Centrist President Trump is using the tariffs for that reason.

In the 80s, Democrats were totally ANTI WAR.

Today, it is PRESIDENT TRUMP who has decided to charge deadbeat European and Asian countries for our military, or he would pull them out. (It was TRUMP who was opposed to the Iraq war that Hillary KKKlinton voted for in Congress.) Pacifist Trump in the 21st Century would have been Tom Hayden's PEACENIK ideal of the world.

Conservatism of the 80s treated drugs a lot more simply: JUST SAY NO. In the 90s, the KKKlinton regime signed a bill (proposed by Senator Biden) that would lock up hundreds of thousands of perpetrators for simple possession of marijuana.

It was CENTRIST President Trump who (a) signed the bill legalizing the production of HEMP, (b) signed the Second Chance Act, which released thousands of BLACKS from prison, who had been put there for simple possession, and (c) it was Floridian Donald Trump who voted for this state's referendum to legalize recreational marijuana. (Today, you can easily get a scrip for medical marijuana in the Sunshine State)

Over a period of 40 years, the left wingf Democrats have moved to the left of KKKARL MARX. Republicans have almost become centrists. (Never thought I'd actually hear myself say that. )

If so, the world will still be better for it. Satan has a form grip on the left,
No coherent politics is possible in the West. The population is too dishonest.
