Donald Trump and Greenland ...

Is his desire for Greenland just another brain fart, a place of refuge from climate change or her just feels like pissing off the Danes?🤔
Top | New | Old
If trump does it...... it's for one of two reasons...........money in his pockets or it benefits Putin.

In the cases of Canada, Panama and Greenland..........all 3 hurt Putin. Canada rivals Russia for oil sales to the Near East. And Canada controls shipping lanes Russia needs to export their oil. Greenland controls commercial shipping lanes and Panama has a ban on allowing Russian shipping to use the Canal. Controlling all 3 would vastly help Putin.

On Panama alone. Trump is fixated on invaded them because he is a tax deadbeat. He has not paid taxes on his towers there or his golf courses and Panama has seized both for long overdue past taxes. They took his name off of the tower and his golf course and he wants to get even.
SuziSatan02 · 46-50, F
@anythingoes477 The USA gaining control of Greenland doesn't benefit Russia or China, it harms them. In context of the ongoing battle for access to food, minerals, fuel, control of shipping-lanes...better that Greenland should wind up in American hands - Europe being still riddled with China-sympathising "neo-communist and too dim to realise that that's what they are"-type governments (never mind Denmark, look at France and - pause for effect - Britain).

Incidentally, did the OP on this thread use the word "brain fart" just for the sake of a pun on the name Trump? Well in that case, won't it be ironic if the man with the excremental surname succeeds in administering the metaphorical enema* to Europe and to corrupt, morally-bankrupted organisations like the UN.

(* The enema analogy is well-chosen: remember what we say when we're doing a reluctant patient - "yes, it hurts, too bad, this is for your own good")
@SuziSatan02 You're incorrect. With the melting of the Polar Icecap that opens shipping lanes for both China and Russia...............and Canada and Greenland control those shipping lanes. With the Panama Canal having a blockade on Russian shipping the northern ice cap shipping lanes are critical to Russia.
SuziSatan02 · 46-50, F
@anythingoes477 Yes, and look at Canada! It may be retiring one of those social-credit-system-favouring, communist-and-doesn't-know-it leaders (Trudeau) but you know for sure it's going to replace him with another member of the same sub-(standard)-species. The fact that Mark Carney is hovering around Canada like the proverbial vulture is a truly frightening sign of things to come.
HobNoblin · 36-40, M
No idea, people in Greenland seem to like the idea. Personally I'd rather Greenland became an independent nation. It has its own people and culture.
@HobNoblin exactly bro... if only the media gave all perspectives instead of the globalist one...
Khenpal1 · M
@HobNoblin Greenland gets like 1.5 billion from Denmark every year for free , Per see only Denmark can give them right to split up . Plus another 100.000 alcoholics would be shipped from main land Denmark back to Greenland.

In Denmark, they called for help from Russia to protect Greenland from the United States

Protest sentiments are growing in Denmark against the background of statements by the elected American president Donald Trump about the accession of the world's largest island to the United States.

In connection with the threat from Washington, a member of the Danish Parliament (Folketing) from the Socialist People's Party, Carsten Henge, called on Moscow to seek protection. The politician posted the corresponding statement on social networks.

@Jokersswild Is he speaking Danish? Looks German to me.
Jokersswild · 22-25VIP
@sree251 I have no idea. I can't speak either.
Khenpal1 · M
@sree251 Danish and his girlfriend is from Greenland .
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
Trump stated that America needs these territories for "economic security". Presumably he won't be objecting in future when thousands of migrants from Mexico, Venezuala, Colombia, etc, illegally occupy much smaller portions of American territory for their own economic security.
@SunshineGirl the USA killed human rights for the rules based order. The compliant population is on board. It's anti rights! It wants wars for economic gains. It's back. Europe also hates immigrants more than it likes socialism. It's back. We're toast.

He's having a good time but seeing what's available for sure. He will do a good job and be fair about it
emiliya · 22-25, F
He is trying the peace through strength approach. Trump thinks that China will go after Greenland if he does not. Why can't countries keep to themselves?
@emiliya But are you saying nazis weren't bad?
emiliya · 22-25, F
@SinlessOnslaught We have all been bad.
@emiliya I mean they were largely responsible for implementing some of the earliest highway systems and other technology, they were an example of military power and strategy, but it's important to remember that a vast amount of their motivation came from hate, and they did horrible things that far outweigh the good. I am not inclined to speak well of nazis or Hitler at all.
Jokersswild · 22-25VIP
Why would Greenlanders give up their sovereignty to put themselves in a dangerous situation. I mean, Trump has said he needs Greenland for defense purposes. He wants to put military bases, defense systems in Greenland which means Greenland will be the first country to get attacked by Russia.

The US has nothing to offer Greenland.

@Jokersswild Greenland isn't a sovereign nation, they're anautonomous territory of the Kingdom of Denmark, it's inhabitants Danish citizens and citizens of the European Union. It also is home to the largest national park in the world.

He's trying for a spot in history for "Trump's Folly", like Seward did by buying Alaska, making an expansionist move that created debt and tarrifs to pay the debt.
He's trying to get his name attached to a new territory.
@beckyromero yes, you are defending the Arctic. Such concern for the Arctic.
beckyromero · 36-40, F
@Roundandroundwego

Canadian sovereignty of the Northwest Passage will ensure that the Passage will remain closed to nearly all international shipping. That will also help protect the Arctic environment.
@beckyromero sounds bleak. But we understand we can just ignore that.
Zaphod42 · 51-55, M
It’s him admitting that climate change is real, and Greenland is becoming resource rich as the ice recedes.
Convivial · 26-30, F
@Zaphod42 all the ice had to go somewhere and I suspect Trump towers is going to lose the lower three floors 😜
Khenpal1 · M
@Zaphod42 maybe in 40 years time, give Denmark Hawaii , you can have Greenland instead 😂
Elessar · 26-30, M
There's no desire of his. This is Putin's desire to see NATO crumble and the US attacking the rest of the alliance is an assured way to break it. Trump's merely the instrument.

Russia has won the cold war, it's that simple, we're just seeing the west's own collapse.
sree251 · 41-45, M
If you are not all tatooed up and have a nose ring, you need to watch your language.
CarlaMommy · 41-45
I voted for him 3 times but wish he'd learn to control that hole in his face.
Diotrephes · 70-79, M
@Convivial America could have bought Greenland around the same time we bought Alaska. And we could have traded Maine for British Columbia.
Toofargone · 26-30, F
@Diotrephes we definitely won that trade
Diotrephes · 70-79, M
@Diotrephes
we definitely won that trade

It was stupid not to have made the trade. The US would have gained a lot of territory that would have linked Alaska to the mainland and it would have given us a lot of natural resources.

Canada would have been able to link mainland Canada to its maritime provinces. The US lost out big on that.
badminton · 61-69, MVIP
Maybe he says these ridiculous things to distract us from his real plans, like stealing our Social Security.
Convivial · 26-30, F
@badminton I believe you guys the nail on the head... My thoughts exactly... The magician waving around his wand to distract you while his hand is in your pocket
ron122 · 41-45, M

@badminton I think biden is busy doing that.

I think he wants to be the first president that geographically expands the us again

He literally wants to have impact on the world's map

What made him money again? Oh yes, real estate. Greenland is a big piece of land, you know
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
@val70 Well, that answered nothing. His multiple bankruptcies seem to have lost him money, or isn't that math?
val70 · 51-55
@ChipmunkErnie Your welcome. Just put the hatred aside, will you? I'm not American and certainly no Trump supporter. It really blinds you to how he thinks
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
@val70 I've watched him for decades, listened to him brag about his scams and lies, etc., etc.

Pretty soon...many countries will join the U.S.

It's Good thing for now.

Bad for the one world government later on in the future. The Trump Family is an instrument of life.

Trump makes the future happen in the golden age.

@SuziSatan02 I've heard of no evidence of this despite many investigations and one successful court case against those who said they're was tampering and another on the way

Ohhh...the Don is going to annex Canada, take back the Panama Canal, buy Greenland, build up a huge military there, pull the US out of NATO, create an alliance with Putin to take Europe, and then drill baby, drill.

Or...he's just trolling globalists
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@BizSuitStacy Yes, but when do the playground politics end and government starts? Has he forgotten that he is supposed to become president shortly? 🤔
@SunshineGirl When? Jan. 20th, 2025. But you already knew that.
thisguy20 · 41-45, M
Probably a bit of all three AND a distraction from what is actually happening (prices going up, benefits going down, the rich getting richer while the rest of us get f*ck*d, etc)
or his trolling the EU...

Canada, then Greenland... it's like he's trying to develop a new flavour of hegemony
Guess he got the idea from his buddy Putin invading Ukraine.

There may be merit as a forward base in Greenland.... But to announce publicly that you're thinking of taking over a foreign country because of your needs is definitely unneibourly and exactly what NATO was designed to prevent
