MAGA: Do you believe Trump when he says that his achievement x is the best or biggest in history, or that his opposition is the worst in history?

Or do you recognize that as hyperbolic rhetoric?
Or if you do believe it, do you do any research to verify it?

I mean, how likely is it really that everything Trump does is better than ever in history and that everything his political opponents do is the worst in history?

Does that kind of sensational and continuous claim ever make you take a step back and wonder how trustworthy the man is?

It doesn't matter. It simply does not.
It's a cult. Listen to them. Read their words.
If they truly listen to trump's words, read his posts and the memes he sends out, and still give him their full support, they are in a cult. Or they find it too entertaining to give up.
"I hate taylor swift" a quote by donald trump. Republican candidate for president of the united states.

@Pikachu i will concede that the things you listed aren't exactly how maga works. But trump constantly bombards his supporters with emails expressing his undying love while imploring them to buy or give. People that have limited resources.
And what of the liz cheneys of the party. They seem to be shunned.
I dont know. Explaining that behavior. It's hard to wrap my head around.
@Carla

And i concede that the behaviour is very cult like. It's not rational or healthy.

Lmao! This question cracks me up. Of course i dont believe him when he says that. I simply remember my life was more affordable under Trump's presidency. Was that his doing? Eh lol probably not.

One thing is for sure though... i miss Obama. Sure. He did some great things and some not so great things. But i miss when he was president.

@reflectingmonkey dude (as you probably are already aware 🤣) there straight up are people in america that equate trump with God. It's sad. Laughable... but sad. I work with a girl who is one of them. And if i ever bring up opposition towards trump she loses her mind and all hell breaks loose. These people dont think critically about Trump at all. And that is the problem we have in America. People dont think critically about any of this. They're so blinded by the failed bipartisan scheme that it's essentially tribalism. I grew tired of it long ago.
reflectingmonkey · 51-55, M
@astrosandorbits well I must say that I blame religion for that , especially christianity. the bible convinced people that believing without seeing is a very godly thing and doubt is a sin. if you teach that to people at a young age it warps their ability to have critical thinking , they instead become people who "choose" what is true or not. My dad has a funny expression to describe that type of people " dont confuse me with facts, my mind is made up". I avoid certainty as if it was the plague.

@astrosandorbits How can you say that the economy isn't doing well now when all of the sporting events are sold out? If people didn't have money would they be able to go to those expensive games?
trollslayer · 46-50, M
I have family that honestly believe he was the best president ever. I can sorta see how they buy into some of the arguments and fears of the right, economic issues, etc, but best president ever? Thats a level I don’t understand.
Convivial · 26-30, F
Let's not call it hyperbolic rhetoric... Call it what it is...BS, plain and simple.... The guy couldn't lie straight in bed if he tried.... mendacious is the word you're looking for
@Convivial

Well i'm trying to be diplomatic lol
Convivial · 26-30, F
@Pikachu you're the only one lol😜

Listen to any salesman and you will hear about the same thing , if they are buying anything it always needs repairs or improvements and they will take a loss on it but they will give you a deal on a trade in or something.

The same item same condition but the next person is looking for something. I have just the thing you are looking for it’s a perfect item non better , oh those dents, that’s antiqueing makes it worth more. I hate to sell it but I need to make room for more junk oops I mean merchandise so I can give you a deal on this. It all depends on point of view I guess.

Trump is a salesman. And personally I take him that way and don’t believe a word he says.

I can stop you after 4 words of that question:

@Vin53 after 4 words is when i began chuckling.

Sends me to sleep, to be honest. A man incapable of thinking in shades or ever conceding that he might be mistaken is not interesting enough to waste much thought on.
He let hundreds of thousands of Americans die because COVID conflicted with.his reelection campaign.
ninjavu · 51-55, M
You're asking people to admit they're loco?? 😂
@ninjavu

Most people have a hard time changing their minds...but it does happen!
Doesn't hurt to try!

You are absolutely right, even for people who think they are open minded enough to change their opinions. And yes, you're also absolutely right that it doesn't hurt to try, but you clearly have far more energy to invest in the process than I do.
@ninjavu

lol not really. I just try every now and then.

The best quote i heard about gia modus operandi was when he said that his core voters took what he said with a large amount of salt whereas the press took everything he said completely seriously. Helps explain things a little.
gol979 · 41-45, M
His self confessed best achievement as president was his operation warp speed covid injections.......pretty much everyone trusted him then and if you didnt you were labelled a "selfish granny killer" or some such nonsense.

@Zaphod42 *sits next to you with my own bag of popcorn* ah yes... how great it is to observe people losing their minds over politics.

For me as someone who spends most of her social time in Scandinavian countries, it isn't really a matter of believing if what Trump says is true or not, but more about how Trump exemplifies how the European part of the world has come to understand how the American mind thinks and acts everywhere Americans travel when they leave their own country on vacation or on business trips.

Trump for us, is the American standard, the American ambassador representing the American people if you will, who reflects how every European or Scandinavian has perceived every American to be for at least as far back as my great-grandfather's time which is less than 100 years.

So when all of us over here saw Trump getting involved in politics back in 2016, who Trump was and what Trump was all about is also how we had come to understand the workings of the American mind anyway, long before Trump ever showed up for his grandiose escalator ride with his wife in Trump Tower.
@SandWitch

it's good to hear perspectives from outside america. Americans can get altogether too focused on America.
I think a lot of MAGA don't understand how embarrassing Trump is for them on the world stage.
SandWitch · 26-30, F
@Pikachu
Honestly? Americans must dump Donald Trump as the leader of the Republican Party because Trump is undermining the integrity of the American fabric. When the word "American" or "America" or "The USA" is mentioned in Sweden for example, eyes roll and the name Donald Trump immediately emerges and people cover their ears!

@ElwoodBlues i laughed at almost every one of these 🤣
I mean seriously it's just comical that Trump says all of this and millions of people buy into it like it's absolute fact.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow

lol that's really the impression i've had of him in his campaigns: If i'm elected student body president, every day will be free pizza day in the cafeteria!
@Pikachu Yep.
@Pikachu Seems he is not quite there yet. At least you don't have Vladimir Volfovich Zhirinovsky. He has at various points offered free vodka and bizarrely free underwear to Russians.

The man has been dead for 2 years and other people are still not at his level of nuts yet.
