I guess it never occurred to you that he might actually be wrong. When I attended university I was having to constantly correct their mistaken ideas. During a single lecture by one particular teacher, I counted no fewer than FIVE major errors, and these errors were BASIC (ex. he thought the US Civil War began in 1865 and ended in 1871, and he didn't know what the Latin term casus belli meant).
