The way Trump used that term was so disjointed and incoherent, I think Democrats believe he really was calling for violence. When talking about the auto industry failing, he also said this would be the "least of it." As if to imply something much worse, a blood-bath, was coming.
TBH, I don't think Trump always knows what he means. He also said Biden beat Obama to become president.

Not really. It's a common tactic for tyrants to claim that their words were "taken out of context" when they were deliberately vague. Trump coming back and saying "oh, I was only talking about the auto industry" allows him to communicate to his base while placating the rest of us.

What Trump should have done is said "I am absolutely and unequivocally opposed to political violence for any reason, and I categorically reject any of my followers who engage in it." The fact that he didn't say that proves that he meant a real bloodbath.

Stop making excuses for the fascist pig.

They are using the tactics an elderly madman used which worked most recenty to get Trump elected preident. Its pathetic, undemocratic. & scary; however the quitessensial theory being tested is if any press is good press. It might backfire for the democrats. Literally being a demolition move. . . Lol.
