Must not be alienating them too much. Iowa is solid Red and has beeen since WWII. Yesterday though a Dem won the most solid Red district in the state by a 30% margin over a Republican. Trump carried that district by 65%. Now its Blue.
@Bumbles depends on what you consider the center. As a far left economic progressive, they have only made token offerings and many of them got blocked.
Though, despite the different views of who is being addressed and ignored. I think we agree that the weakness has been sickening. They are more worried about decorum than about the impact of their failures on the lives of the people they are supposed to be representing.
@Prison1203 The Dem base didn't necessarily vote "FOR" Biden last election. They voted against Scammy Davis. And by the numbers (nearly 8 million more voted for Biden) and the number of flipped traditional Red sates that went for Biden......so did a lot of Republicans.

Republicans are also alienating swing voters with their extreme position on abortion. The vote on Issue 1 in Ohio next week will clarify how significant this will be next year. Their problem is, if they aren’t as extreme, they will alienate their base.

(1) Democrats are not monolithic. The don't have a single leader whose voice drowns out all the rest. Democrats have a big tent containing many points of view, and not all in agreement.
(2) I have yet to see a shred of evidence that either blacks or jews or homosexuals who formerly supported democrats are now supporting republicans. If you've got the evidence, please present it. If your response is "do your own research," that's further admission you don't have a shred of evidence.
(3) Elections don't happen in a vacuum; there is a choice among imperfect candidates. The real question in 2024 will be who looks worse, trumpsters or democrats. Nobody I knew was enthusiastic about Biden in 2020; we voted for Biden to block Trump. Since losing in 2020, Trump has only strengthened the case against him.
(4) If you've never voted republican and stopped voting democratic, then feel free to continue throwing your vote away on candidates who won't affect outcomes or policy. Makes no difference to me.
@SW-User Republicans lie, steal, only care about their own pockets, their corporate donors...they don't give a shit about the lower.and middle classes trying to scratch out a living. Our healthcare costs are not affordable, but that cool. We need to make sure that the upper.class who can afford to pay their taxes don't have taxes to pay. Is it alienating or is it not kowtowing to groups in search of grievance and enemies who don't subscribe to "justice for all?" Democratic leadership isn't anyone's Daddy. And it actually looks VERY good for Democrats in the next election.
