@Razoreye001 Tankies are close enough. The Ninja Turtles don't like Red Fashies either.
I will grant that Fascism requires reactionary views, whereas Tankies as a whole don't have a consistent view on social issues. So I guess y'all are the lesser evil there.

@Razoreye001 He's never been charged with treason nor has he been prosecuted.
@ExtremeNext Trump is a Russian asset. He was being groomed by KGB as early as the 80s. His first trip to Russia was 1987. When he came back he took out full page ads in newspapers saying the US should pull out of NATO. Who needs allies, right? Putin bought Trump. It was the best purchase he ever made.

Literally.............in many, many respects the vote in 2024 is to preserve democracy. The entire GOP is pro-fascism vs a democracy in America anymore. The enemy of every single conservative and GOP politician is the "antifa"................ANTI-Fascists. When the enemy of 1/2 of America is anyone who hates fascism......and thinks a democracy with a Constitution is the worst choice for us now...........what does that tell you for the kind of ruling order the GOP wants and intends to steer us towards if they win enough control of Congress and the courts and the White House to do it?
anythingoes477 · M
@originnone Point #1...........There's the GOP and what left of the GOP. MOST of the old GOP are now dinosaurs. Trumps GOP absolutely think the time has come to tear up the Constitution.........as he promised to do if elected in 2024. That is facist.
Point #2..........you must have no idea how a cult behaves. When you are so poor you can't buy gas but you send money blindly to a millionaire......that's a cult. When you can not hear anything bad about the leader........or see it.........or even WANT to read about it..........it's a cult. When justice does not apply to the cult leader but you hear "what about him"..."what about her"........for doing what they think is the same thing.....then they believe that ONLY one person on earth is immune from law. That's a cult. When one person they follow like sheep is thought to be Jesus....."sent directly from God".....that is a cult.
Point #3........Occassionally in history the popular vote "IS" irrelevant. For instance after all the recounts Gore beat Bush Jr...........but never took office. In the 2016 election Hillary beat trump by over 3 million votes and did not take office. As long as the E.C. exists this possibility exists over and over for any election to come.

@anythingoes477 Well, you can have whatever opinion about issues that you see fit....but when you change definitions of words and decide the rules that were agreed to before an election should have been different after the election, you lose a lot of credibility.
I'll also counter that I think the masses under the GOP always had some of the negative characteristics we've seen recently. I think they are just exposed more now. Maybe true "conservatives" are the dinosaurs....like the Reagans, Goldwaters, etc.

This really isn't the time for a protest vote.
Razoreye001 · 31-35, M
@BohemianBabe Well, how does voting for moderates move us to the left? We've been voting for the lesser of two evils for as long as I could remember, and never has the left won anything, ever. Not by voting for Obama twice, and not by electing Joe Biden. Don't you see the rich control both parties, and the democrats are paid to lose elections on purpose, or do nothing when elected to make it easier for republicans to win. You're never going to push this country to the left if you vote for the system, and America is already an oligarchy. It has been since Citizens United.
Also, us tankies aren't fascists, in fact by and large the Soviets killed more Nazis than the British and Americans have. It's a shame the Soviets lost the cold war, because now we have to deal with these capitalist powers with no major opposition. I assume you're some Vaushite liberal, and not a leftist.

@Razoreye001 I would explain how wrong all of this is, but if you're a Red Fascist, I assume you legit don't care.
Razoreye001 · 31-35, M
@BohemianBabe Whatever you say liberal.
gol979 · 41-45, M
Why is anyone voting in 2024 and giving consent to be ruled over?
ViciDraco · 36-40, M
I'd vote for Cornel if I were in a safely blue state. But I'm not going to feel comfortable splitting the vote against most of these republican candidates coming out of the woodwork. Trump, DeSantis, and Pence are all too dangerous for me to consider a third party vote.
ViciDraco · 36-40, M
@Fukfacewillie I try to stay practical. Ideally I'd vote Green or somewhere to the left of that. But Trump and DeSantis are dangerous fascists, and Pence is a slave to his religious bigotries. I would much rather vote for something than against something, but the things I want are long term endeavors and won't come to pass if the far right regresses our culture a hundred years.
I would not like Christie, or any republican president due to Supreme Court concerns, but a man like Christie would not terrify me quite so much. He's corrupt as hell but he doesn't give me fascist or Christian nationalist vibes in the same way the other primary candidates do.

BohemianBabe · M
@ViciDraco It's amazing how much better Christie comes off compared to the fascist psychopaths that now dominate right-wing politics. He's pro-democracy, doesn't do the "anti-woke" bullshit, and generally lives in reality. I know he won't get the nomination, but I'd feel waaaay better if the 2024 election was Christie vs Biden.
ViciDraco · 36-40, M
@BohemianBabe absolutely. As i said, I wouldn't want him to win, but I wouldn't feel terrified to have him as a president. He's the kind of republican you can have differences of opinion with and not feel like he's going to start a civil war if he doesn't get his way.

Last time round in the UK I voted Monster Raving Loony Party, this time maybe Liberal Democrat.
Obviously, this is Party not person. Trump Lite, ex-PM Bojo (Boris Johnson) is currently suspended for lying to Parliament - the heart of UK democracy - about his partying at No 10 while the country was in lockdown and social gathering was oulawed, but remains popular so could make a comeback. Unlike Donald Trump, he has yet to mount/incite a direct attack on the seat of our democracy, so could still gain many votes if standing.
You really have to laugh - or is it cry?

@SatanBurger
Of course it did. He lost in 2020. And for all of Biden's faults, he fixed the economy and we're continuing to recover.
Meanwhile, the Republicans are doing everything they can to end democracy, eliminate all welfare programs, and kill queer people.
People thought by voting against him it would stop him from being elected but that didn't work.

@BohemianBabe Putting trump aside, I just can't vote anymore because the next president undos everyone else's stuff which is okay because it's checks and balances if the last president messed up so I understand the theory, just annoying.
Our system is kind of like this in how I see it:
Picture you are in a job that switches bad management every year. And the management installs new laws, updates existing ones into how they think things should be and hires new employees while firing old ones. Lots and lots of paperwork.
But in this mess, here you are, an employee and the new management makes things even worse and better at the same time. Things don't add up, sometimes people get wrongly fired, sometimes certain types get blamed for others mistakes while the same people still have their jobs and you get the brunt of it, sometimes paperwork just gets lost, rewritten laws are on top of old laws in which the writing contradictes itself... making as mess of things.
That's just how I view our system. I've never benefited from any sitting president. Whatever laws are introduced like health care even, I don't ever see it.
It's just a waste of time.

@SatanBurger So first of all, the president isn't able to undo everything. Trump wasn't able to undo the ACA. Biden wasn't able to undo the overturning of Roe v Wade. Plus, the Republicans are consistently trying to end our democracy, so this could literally be the last election.
Secondly, let's say the premise was correct. What you're saying is that instead of maintaining an imperfect status quo, you want things to get worse. Because that is what happens when people don't vote. The system is rigged so that the less people on average that vote, the more of a chance that Republicans win.
