Ahh, Carla:
The reason you can't find the FBI data is because the gov't has made much more difficult to find. Prior to 2012, it was pretty simple to find and to navigate. Now, not so much. The FBI reports up through the executive branch...now, who was president in 2012? Obozo! And what else did Obozo do?...oh yeah, he made the CDC the "other source" of firearm homicide data. Now...why do you suppose the gov't wanted a secondary source for this information? Afterall...the FBI has thorough quality assurance and quality control measures in place (you can find their quality methodologies on their site) and the CDC...well, they just count death certificates. Huh. I wonder which agency is more accurate? The CDC's firearm homicide data is consistently 25%-40% higher than our federal law enforcement agency. Quite a discrepancy. Yet, lefties always use the CDC's data. How convenient.

Back in the EP days, I posted the FBI's firearm homicide data per state, and downloaded it to a spreadsheet. I merged state census population data, integrated the equation to calculate the homicide rate per 100K (i.e. per capita) and then sorted on that number.
With the exception of Washington DC (because it's technically not a state) California consistently ranks no. 1 in the country for most firearm homicides, and 2 in the country for most firearm homicides per capita behind Louisiana.
I singled out DC. Why? It proves two points.
The first is the ineffectiveness of gun control laws. After researching (and I mean real research, not some stupid chart you pull off the internet that you can't verify) I read through the various gun control statutes of each state...DC has the most stringent gun control laws by far. More stringent than any of the 50 states.
Yet...do the math. The firearm homicide rate per capita blows California off the map. It's 16 times higher than the national average.
The second is that firearm violence is highly condensed in America's inner cities. Studying the data at the state level takes you down a rabbit hole. Any state in which their metropolitan areas make up a high percentage of the state's total population is also likely to have a very high firearm homicide rate per capita. This is how you know the CBS pill showing Wyoming among the top 10 states for gun murders is total bullshit.
Examples:
California, Illinoise, Wash DC...tough gun laws, really high firearm homicide rates
Louisiana, Missouri...lenient gun laws, really high firearm homicide rates.
Vermont, Wyoming...very lenient gun laws, lowest firearm homicide rates in the country.
Hawaii...tough gun laws, very low firearm homicide rate.
The only conclusion you can draw from this is that gun laws are not effective at deterring crime.
Ah...but drill down into the homicide data at the metropolitan level (yes...the FBI has that too) and you see the real picture.
As accidents and suicides, it's a deflection.
Firearm accidents are at all time lows since the metric has been tracked. Interesting because gun ownership continues to increase at an astounding rate with leftists rattling their gun control sabers.
Suicides represent the problem of mental illness, not criminal behavior. Roughly two thirds of gun fatalities are suicides. The left uses it as a crutch to make gun crime appear far worse. But what did we learn from the Australian gun ban? Suicide by firearm goes down, but suicide by other methods goes up by the same amount. Anyone motivated to commit suicide can and will find other methods.

All of the other info ive found varifies the chart i posted.
Show us the raw data backing up ANY of these charts. What's the source? The reason you can't find the FBI data is because the gov't has made much more difficult to find. @chrisCA That’s because Republicunts don’t know what those are.

Only 57% of them are honest. Modern Conservatism is solely about OWNING THE LIBS as the country burns down.
Ynotisay · M
Saw that earlier. Mind-blowing.
Not to do the the "they" thing but polls like this make it pretty clear. Maybe it's more of a human thing than a political thing. Seems like "they're" not fighting for anything. They fight against things. Including what it's in their own best interest. And the reason seems obvious me.
In the most black and white terms, some people live theirs lives with optimism and strength and others live through pessimism and fear. They have different leaders and are fed and/or consume different perspectives. It hits home in varying degrees but that's the jumping off point. Fear or strength. And all the corresponding streams that feed those characteristics.
Maybe we'll evolve towards optimism and strength. On a societal and genetic level. Weed out the fear. But we're a long, long way from that.

That’s a scary statistic. It says that Republicans are not interested in making the economy better and would prefer to live in a country dominated by guns and killing and have no tolerance for people who don’t agree with their narrow set of beliefs which in turn leads to more gun sales and more killings.
Graylight · 51-55, F
So, conservatives are stupid sheep?
Piper · 61-69, F
It's a disheartening poll, to me. I keep wanting to believe that most Republican voters couldn't possibly be as shallow and small-minded as the poll indicates, just because so many obviously are.
GrinNude · 61-69, C

The second line disagrees with other polling. Odd.
Theyitis · 36-40, M
@Prison1203 There was already very little crime in that small town before the gun requirement was passed. You haven’t demonstrated that that law affected the crime rate at all.
Why should I believe anything that comes out of Tucker Carlson’s mouth?

What this tells me is that Republican critics of Biden really are only resentful because he beat trump. I do wonder what the other poll options were, and how it was all worded.
Playing devil's advocate, in 2020 most democrat respondents would have put beating Trump at #1.

@trollslayer
That's true, but they also would have listed things they wanted the president to do after beating Trump. With Republicans, it's really just about OWNING THE LIBS. Republicans want to cut social security, but that's a small price to pay if it makes some Liberals mad.

How ironic that "opposes any gun restrictions" is lower than "challenges woke ideas".
So does the party really oppose any gun restrictions? This used to be number one of the four.
How can they say they haven't changed on the gun issue? 🤷🏻♂️

@Prison1203 Southern Blue Dog Democrats were DINOs. Besides, what does that have to with now. This is an elementary school level argument about Teams vs actual issues. I am an Independent who could care less about your "Elephant" or "Donkey" unless he/she supports and actively works toward gun control, supports environmental, protection, etc
Prison1203 · 61-69, M
@Neoerectus try looking at real factual information instead of what you have need lead to believe by being told a lie long enough over and over until they believe it’s the truth, you have bought into the lie

@TexChik you do know that the pedophile accusations is an old tactic, used often in authoritarian countries, right?
And you do know that the list of republican offenders is much longer than that of the democrats, right?
Or is the global cabal hiding all the pedophillic evidence against liberals?
Are they still milking adrenal glands of children in that pizza joints non existant basement? You know, for something easily available on the internet...
You know it's all uphill for the right when all they have is old, baseless accusations meant to make you all mad and stuff.
And see...it works. You hate just for the sake of hating.

So if they get a republican nomination who challenges woke ideas and makes liberals angry, they should win then without having to have someone who is complete cancer?
Carla · 61-69, F
@Teirdalin so, a republican that pushes for policies that help their constituents is cancerous, but one that pushes for cultural division is the right choice?
This poll was for those most likely to vote in the primaries. Hopefully a candidate that is pushing for this agenda will become the republican candidate. Because most of the country know better.
