Is Trump A Flight Risk?

Trump is claiming that in the search a week ago, agents seized his three passports. He would have two current ones--one a regular one like anyone else, and the other a diplomatic passport given to him while President. He claimed he had an expired one along with the others. If Trump is being truthful, the DOJ likely considers him a flight risk to avoid consequences for his crimes.

Update 16 August 2022: The DOJ is reporting that they did take his passports but returned the them following the search at Mar-a-Lago.

@samueltyler2 That would have been fascinating. We could have used the WHO to look at Three Mile Island, which impacted many more people negatively than has ever been reported, but was swept under the rug.

Did you have access to the data from the Chelyabinsk region from the radioactive waste disposal site that went critical in the late 1950s? The Russians developed quite a bit of data on human and environmental impacts from large nuclear releases from that event, which wasn't even known in the west until the 1980s.

If he’s telling the truth. He lies so much if he said the sky was blue I’d need a color chart to verify. If they did though, and it wasn’t just his presidential one being taken for the archives, then the investigation is a lot farther along than we’ve been told 🙂

Maybe not a flight risk, but there's an evidentiary reason for the FBI taking those passports even temporarily.

It was reported this morning that the passports were found in Trump's desk drawer along with some classified folders. Finding "identity documents" along with the classified folders ties custody of the folders more closely to Trump, makes it harder for him to blame poor storage on underlings.

"The two things we always take when we're executing search warrants is evidence of crime and evidence of ownership or possessory information," Kirschner said. "If there are utility bills at the scene, you seize the bills, not because they're evidence of a crime but because they're evidence of possession and ownership."

I guess it's in the realm of possibility but where could he go where he wouldn't be found? Also don't think he could spin it in a way that would appeal to more than the 10% who truly think he's the second coming.

That normally happens after an arrest and a court hearing.
It does seem to forecast consequences for him later.

Anything to get the subject off the Documents he should NOT have been holding on to. And you really believe a man like Trump WONT keep his passport close to hand? It will have been with him in new york. Except maybe the expired one.😷

@MistyCee I'm more concerned about supporters lying to get on a criminal jury, and then finding him not guilty in an 11-1 decision no matter what evidence is provided. We already know they will vote for him no matter what.

@MistyCee I agree that it is unfixable. The only solution is for prosecuting attorneys to do a good job in jury selection to find a jury that will actually make decisions based on the facts of the case.

Where did the 3rd passport come from? Slovenia or Russia? I believe he's not entitled to his diplomatic passport once he leaves office.

@Northwest The representation is that took his diplomatic passport, his current civilian passport, and an expired civilian passport...which latter might indicate that they don't want him trying to get another valid passport issued.
