Is Trump A Flight Risk?

Trump is claiming that in the search a week ago, agents seized his three passports. He would have two current ones--one a regular one like anyone else, and the other a diplomatic passport given to him while President. He claimed he had an expired one along with the others. If Trump is being truthful, the DOJ likely considers him a flight risk to avoid consequences for his crimes.

Update 16 August 2022: The DOJ is reporting that they did take his passports but returned the them following the search at Mar-a-Lago.

If he had a Diplomatic Passport it should have been rescinded once he ceased to be President in my opinion.

@MissTaken Good point.

@MissTaken Mine expired when I left the Navy, I assume that if a president is even issued a separate one, it would expire at the end of the term, and, if re-elected, a new one would be issued.
MissTaken · 36-40, F
@samueltyler2 That would be my view🙂

@samueltyler2 Interesting. I thought perhaps presidents retained them after leaving office in case they had to travel internationally to represent the US on special diplomatic missions. Of course, Trump was incapable of diplomacy even in office, and would never be used in the future for that purpose.

@windinhishair All I can personally vouch for is my military passport, which was only good while I was on active duty.

I see you have been involved with climate/environment. I sat on the DEPS's Clean Air Act Advisory Council for 4 years, and have been very involved nationally with professional organizations.

@samueltyler2 That's great! I have represented the US government internationally on environmental issues in both Europe and Central America. Serving on councils and committees is a great way to give something back.
MissTaken · 36-40, F
@windinhishair Did they give you a Diplomatic Passport for that.😂😂😂😂

@windinhishair The environmental issues have been really tough. I was part of the WHO group that got together after Chernobyl to look at health issues.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@samueltyler2 That would have been fascinating. We could have used the WHO to look at Three Mile Island, which impacted many more people negatively than has ever been reported, but was swept under the rug.

Did you have access to the data from the Chelyabinsk region from the radioactive waste disposal site that went critical in the late 1950s? The Russians developed quite a bit of data on human and environmental impacts from large nuclear releases from that event, which wasn't even known in the west until the 1980s.
BackyardShaman · 61-69, M
@samueltyler2 it likely expired, however Trump considers himself still the president so may not recognize it as expired.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@BackyardShaman Most foreign countries would see it as expired though.
