wouldnt it be better to put off election until after pandemic,as really govt should be preoccupied with handling the covid pandemic ,instead of rallys

@MalteseFalconPunch I agree.. But maybe with a different focus.
If Trump loses, which seems likely, there may be a few sporadic outbreaks of right wing gunfire. (But lets face it, those idiots are not organised and never will be) Then everyone will grumble and go home..
If on the other hand he manages a win, nothing much will happen, as it hasnt really for the past 4 years. It will just be ruder and louder..
But in the end, the global Covid thing will bring Americas debt issues to a head and stop the nation cold as other countries stop extending America credit..
So no mmatter what, 2021 and 2022 are going to make 2020 look good.😷

@MalteseFalconPunch In the end its not about the politics.. Its about the economics.. Every nation is taking a pounding from Covid and all will suffer economically. Not the best time to ask anyone for a loan they arent likely to see back.
This Government isn't doing anything about the pandemic that's why we need an election.

@lynncelestial
Yeah, everyone who disagrees with you on the internet is a dummy. And when you see what you call unrelated post, you somehow feel it is worth commenting on. Whilst calling other people a dummy. Idiot.
No, everyone who disagrees with me is not a dummy. You are a dummy because, well you are.

I know you think you make sense, but you don't. Your "holing" theory indicates you're either a complete moron, high, or both. Although I'm sure, in your own mind, it makes complete sense. It does not.

Maybe have a bit more of a think why even though we knew the virus was a thing way back in last november, we decide to lockdown for a pandemic on the same month the US experiences the largest growth in employment in American history, under Trump. A lockdown that put 41% of businesses out of business forever.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@lynncelestial you did not read my comment. The outbreak in Italy was not identified as covid until later. The virus was already in the US by then. By the time the "travel ban" was imposed the virus was already here. We really didn't understand the virus that early, didn't understand its transmission, didn't know how to protect ourselves. We were unprepared because all of the previous preparations were discarded. We lacked adequate PPE for the health providers, so we didn't suggest the public wear masks, but then suggested wearing cloth covers instead. This was a very complicated problem, but as we learned more about the virus, we still.didn't take it seriously enough. You should read the editorial in the New England of Medicine which addresses the issue of lack of leadership at every level, it did not mention names, no specific blame. But it points out that the lack of leadership.led to delays in deAling with the virus and then the cascade of disaster resulting in the worst case per population, death to population in thenwotkd!
lynncelestial · 31-35, F
@samueltyler2 So you are suggesting trump should have put measures into place despite the fact that we knew nothing abut this "complicated problem". Something tells me people would have been moaning if he did, for being reckless or something. But are now moaning that he didn't do something about it, whilst also choosing to forget that he wanted to close borders of infected countries to do something about it. Seems some people want trump to be bad whatever he does, even if it means simultaneously holding two contradicting beliefs. I think if I was leading a team like that I'd just tell them to sod off and do things themselves if they think they are so much better and everything I do is wrong.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@lynncelestial have you listened to the Woodward tapes? Have you heard that in 2019 the administration ran a table top exercise and it predicted what effect a pandemic would have? If trump had listened to his own experts, to the very people he appointed, then instituted steps, while informing the public as the pandemic progressed, perhaps we wouldn't be in as bad a shape as we are. If he had been honest with the people rather than to keep things quiet, or whatever his specific words were at the time, things might be different. The models developed at several institutions differs bit, but all show the same findings, we waited too long before instituting social distancing and mask wearing.

No, elections should not be put off, there are ways to safely have voting so why not. My ballot has already been received by the election bureau.
paulio · M
@samueltyler2 yeah why odnt peopel vote online like on x factor
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@paulio knowing the vulnerability of our computer network infrastructure, I'd actually rather see us go back to paper ballots.
Lostpoet · M
🤔 something tells me tha you aren't really 79
paulio · M
@Lostpoet why are old people stupid or brian dead, iv elived so long ive seen allthis stuff ten times
Lostpoet · M
@paulio My guess is you are 15
paulio · M
@Lostpoet hhha if only, you flatter me
Northwest · M
We had an election during the civil war, Word War I, World War 2. No, the election should not be delayed.
JT123 · M
We can go everywhere else, no reason we can't go vote!

The government's the one telling you there is no panic. So, no.
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
This would have made more sense in June, but why bother now? 3 weeks from tomorrow we will see who wins, then we can expect a whole new round of nonsense depending on who wins and who loses!

Hooray! 🥳

The pandemic is more politics than disease. I suspect it will disappear off the radar November 4th. The groundwork is already being laid. WHO just said no more lockdowns.
paulio · M
@hippyjoe1955 uk has just started new lock downs so has most of europe

You could be waiting a long time.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@lynncelestial so let me get this straight, you would prefer the government take over, keep the businesses operational, etc.? The Congress passed the first protection plan and the house another. They guarantee loans and convert the loans to grants when indicated. So you are for socialization of industry?
lynncelestial · 31-35, F
@samueltyler2 I would have closed the borders to infected countries months ago and let my country run as normal if I had a say.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@lynncelestial so when you get old enough, run for the presidency. Hindsight is great, but we don't usually get that opportunity, and we don't even know if that would have even worked. Social distancing and masks would have worked well, still would be if people stopped being so pig headed about it.
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
The revolutionary war was fought during a small pox epidemic. So no.
paulio · M
@MrBrownstone smallpox was always there, until edward jenner ( a brit) found the cure, a vaccination which has eradicated the disease form the world,
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@paulio And the Americans still won
ozgirl512 · 26-30, F
I don't think the Constitution allows for it
JoeyFoxx · 51-55, M
@ozgirl512 that hardly matters
paulio · M
@ozgirl512 the constituaiton has been amended load sof times
JoeyFoxx · 51-55, M
@paulio are you retarded?
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
⅔ vote of the Senate plus a majority (51%) of all the governor's would be required. Not going to happen! Not in this Senate.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@DeWayfarer I was not commenting on that, only on the process. I believe congress has approved 30+ amendments and sent them to the states and the state legislatures have not approved them. The writers of The constitution intentionally made it very difficult to change the constitution.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@samueltyler2 I was replying to her! If I got some minor details wrong that would make it even harder is beside the point.

It's not going to happen!
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@DeWayfarer true.

But Trump has been holding rallies since 2017.. And he is spending bugger all time on doing anything about the pandemic. Its not important enough to interrupt his busy golf schedule.😷 If I were you I would talk to your congreeman about it. I'm sure they will listen.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@whowasthatmaskedman good luck with that.

They had a year to deal with it
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
Government needs to be proccupied with more than one thing at a time... otherwise what are taxes for?
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@paulio Social distance, masks, drop off ballots, early voting.
paulio · M
@MarkPaul imagine how long the queues will be
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@paulio It's never good to be so soft that being inconvenienced for anything becomes a burden to big to bear. Toughen up, sweetie.
LonGone · 100+, M
It would’ve been best to worry about the virus in the months before election instead of the pumpkin shaving points off his golf score

@JAYS21 I know that, maybe I worded my response wrong I was saying he wasted all that time and let people die so he could play golf and hold trump love ins
BackyardShaman · 61-69, M
Maybe, but only if Pelosi takes over the White House and has control of the Senate.
paulio · M
@BackyardShaman regardless of poltics, the covid pandemic is spread by movementof peopel
BackyardShaman · 61-69, M
I know but politics have been pulled into the issues around the pandemic and it’s unavoidable at this point. So if an extreme measure is taken such as postponing the election, the GOP does not need to be allowed to further dominate the country.@paulio
JoeyFoxx · 51-55, M
@paulio kin modern times, pandemics are also spread by ignorance
I wish - it would give Trump more time to nominate more conservatives to the SCOTUS if the jackals are done with this one.
JoeyFoxx · 51-55, M
Sounds like a great way to reward an incompetent President who can only handle one thing at a time.
Sure.. put it off until 2040..

Until there’s a vax both sides are happy with
