Scarlet Pages of Deceit

Mary lay motionless on her bed, her crimson locks spread like a macabre halo around her head. Clad in nothing but lingerie, her body was a stark contrast to the innocence of the novels she adored. The only company she had in her final moments was the book she was reading, its pages forever frozen in time, a silent witness to her demise. A pair of delicate glasses were placed meticulously atop the open book, evidently belonging to the victim, as if mocking Mary's passion for literature. Each lens reflected the cold, unforgiving truth of her fate.

@SwiftieShutterbug You are very welcome😍

Was Mary, the victim of the now notorious serial killer, The Bookworm?
Or
The victim of her own demise?
Hmm?🤔

Excellent write! 👍👍❤️😎✍️

@Montanaman Ty <3 I'm in such a mood to write my own fiction lately. No better inspiration than myself.

Caught between heaven and hell,
My soul I am unwilling to sell,

Books and pages filling memories within my thinking mind,
Seeking a sign as I rest and unwind,

A fate never cast in stone,
For one’s thoughts often drift to distant places when I’m left alone,

Resting and reflecting on a life filled with passion and drive,
Dreaming my life away but content to be alive…..

@therighttothink50
...The killer awoke before dawn
He put his boots on
He took a face from the ancient gallery
And he walked on down the hall...
🤪😎

And most unfortunately, she never got to the end of her book :P
SwiftieShutterbug · 31-35, F
@JimboSaturn That's the real tragedy!
Degbeme · 70-79, M

Are you okay?
SwiftieShutterbug · 31-35, F
@therighttothink50 I'm pretty okay lol. No worse than normal 😅 I just really felt making a creative piece ultimately and my tastes lean a little dark sometimes.
DunningKruger · 61-69, M
The text is kind of grim, to be honest.
DunningKruger · 61-69, M
@SwiftieShutterbug Sure. That's one of the most important aspects of living, isn't it? Exploring beyond the limits of our perceptions.
SwiftieShutterbug · 31-35, F
@DunningKruger Couldn't agree more! Sometimes we need a little push though!
DunningKruger · 61-69, M
@SwiftieShutterbug Some explorations are better alone, while others are better done in partnership.

Lovely written. Beautiful hair color and skin tone too.

This model should not feel so forlorn or possess any macabre thoughts, as her fave freshly-minted billionairess/person of the year/heroic songstress will soon appear on the horizon in a certain megalopolis which recently opened a smallish museum containing portions of their Roman Wall 😉
Livingwell · 61-69, M
Nice writing. Sad for her demise.
ViciDraco · 36-40, M
That paints such a mysterious picture. If wearing lingerie she probably had expected company. It's not often casual wear. But if the book was the only company there, the killer did not count. So either the killer was not the expected company or there was no killer. But if there was no killer, then why place the glasses in mockery?

Perhaps the killer was herself and she decided to look beautiful as she left the world. Or perhaps a jealous rival pushed too far? Or maybe just a murderous stranger happening upon a chance to sate their wicked addiction? But the last seems unlikely to be personal enough to place the glasses.
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
How did she die is the question.
SwiftieShutterbug · 31-35, F
@JimboSaturn Well the lack of blood could suggest strangulation. And the lingerie also suggests there was more at play than just a lonely woman reading. But that's for your imagination to decide! Maybe she was poisoned!
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@SwiftieShutterbug The book and glasses were placed there post mortem. No one reads in lingerie. The killer placed them there for a reason yet unknow to us.
wackidywack · 22-25
A little spooky but nice work !
