We got two Maine Coons last year. They get a bit bigger than the average cat and are more social, much like dogs. I’m not a cat fan, but did it for my wife because she lost her cat of 14 years.
If you can, get both. It is so much fun to watch them playing or play fighting together. I would love to have to and if I could adopt them here, I would but we're only allowed to have one pet where I live. They are adorable and think how long you would have them. It's no more trouble to have two, then it is just to have one. They're so delightful and joyful to have. Those two are the cutest.
I don't have one now because it would cost too much for me at this time. That is something else to consider and the cleanup. I wish you the best in your decision.
I just read about the fees you will have to pay the landlord! When I had a cat, his food and kitty litter and the litter tray liners and the baking soda for the bottom of the pan, cost me about $250 a month. Then there are vet fees. Think carefully about what you can afford!
She also has a smaller, older female from before. They all get along fairly well (big house to run around in all night, then sleep about 15 hours against anyone happening to be there)
