Sometimes, Americans need reminding that they’re only 4% of the people. And the other 96% are starting to get pretty tired of them acting up.

No wonder people are looking for alternative brands to US products and switching off to events over there.

Our last election wasn't even decided by a majority of Americans, just a plurality. We're not a monolith. But even as I say that I also get that you do what you need to do, I understand the situation the rest of the world is being put in and I'm also appalled by it.
canadian here...i'm pretty sure many americans don't agree with what trump is doing. sad part is we've been allies and their biggest trading partner, but one man has to change all that and still can't make up his mind. in all honesty i like the american people and i've been all over the states. not sure if or when i'll go back. what pisses me off is canada had to spend over a billion dollars on border security because us officials intercepted not even 50 lbs of fentanyl last year....sick and tired of trump blaming canada for their drug problem....maybe they should spend a billion so their guns and cocaine and whatnot doesn't come up here
MasterLee · 56-60, M
@carpediem tariffs. Add it to the list of imaginary problems.
carpediem · 61-69, M
@MasterLee The left will grab onto anything they can to whine and complain. I agree these tariffs are shaking up the world markets. And THAT is what I voted for. Let them cry. In the end, the US will come out miles ahead and slacker countries, like say.... CANADA, will learn a valuable lesson.
MasterLee · 56-60, M
@carpediem its called find a decent product at a decent price. Period.
PHlover19701 · 56-60, M
Please dont lump all Americans as wanting any of this. Its only the current Pumpkin Trumpy administration that wants this. I feel like were de-evolving. We're only isolating the U.S. from the world and i dont see any productive outcome from it.
Thrust · 56-60, M
@HeidiA

Yes. Manufacturing died because they put no tariffs on 3rd world countries doing it cheaper
PHlover19701 · 56-60, M
@carpediem You're clearly not a corporate BoD. Profit is not left nor right. It's business 101. It's what pays your wage, a majority of your insurance premiums, your paid time off, new equipment for a company...it's maint, the electricity the company uses, etc... Did you know...the taxes you pay in your paycheck...a company has to match and pay to the feds? That also comes from the profit. It's simply a requirement for any company to remain in business. You must be getting business advice from someone that had a lot of bankrupt companies. I bet that person would even send a casino into bankruptcy...could you imagine that one?! Crazy talk.

My advice:
1) Educate yourself using impartial sources for your political information. Dont use left or right resources. Sheep blindly follow without taking any action except to eat whats in front of them. Don't be a sheep.

2) Educate yourself in Business 101, in the Japanese business model, and in Macroeconomics.

This will be my last response to this thread. This started off with my request to not lump All Americans in as being of the same mindset. Point proven. Also, I just dont have much time for the maga's. Franky, they just arent worth much of my time. Life is short.

To the rest of the world:
Things are starting to happen to correct the issue in which we find ourselves. Hopefully, the momentum and pressure will build and spark permanent, positive, and productive change. Try and be patient with us (as difficult as that may be right now). Lies were told (repeatedly) and we apparently have an abundance of naive voters here.

You can help by clicking like, love, etc on this post and show the maga's they are the minority.

@PHlover19701 I own and operate three small companies with revenue in excess of $31,000,000 per year. Not very large, but I am engaged in the economic fabric. I know a little about paying taxes LOL. I'm guessing by your ignorant response you do not. The amount a company pays in federal employment tax is absolutely a cost of labor. It does not come out of company profit. Profit is realized after costs are accounted for and that includes employment taxes. They are a hard cost when someone employs labor.

Do you know what profit is?

When Hewlett Packard still made their excellent pocket calculators in Corvallis, Oregon, the price of a decent scientific (the 15c) in 1981 was $135, equivalent in purchasing power to about $470 today. I have a 15c, it's a brilliant machine, but who would want to pay almost $500 for a pocket calculator made in the US?
I don't get it 😑
TheShanachie · 61-69, M
Actually many of us in the USA are looking for alternative brands and switching off to events over here. The current administration that took over our government are domestic terrorists and well over half of our population do not support their actions.
Lol .. Every place all the smug posts come from have their own problems. Save me the sanctimonious b.s. - including the sniveling apologetic responses from those here.

UK had higher tariffs, and VAT on top for many, on US goods, this is just intended to even that out. Nothing more. You don't like it .. renegotiate. UK is not being mistreated, just treated in kind.
@SunshineGirl State sales taxes are half or less of most EU VATs.

We'll see.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@BrandNewMan The important point is that they are not protectionist tariffs aimed at excluding international trade, as Trump implies . . they are applied equally to all businesses.

Yet the United States makes up 25% of the world economy. Think about that from this point of view if the United States quit spending money with any foreign country 25% of the world economy would crash. So yeah we only make up 4% of the population but we support 25% of the world
dale74 · M
@HeidiA you might want to fact check that
HeidiA · 41-45, F
@dale74 Why? Doesn’t it align with you ideology?
Elessar · 26-30, M
@dale74
Yet the United States makes up 25% of the world economy
And the rest of the world makes up 75% of it. Guess which one can survive without the other.

tobynshorty · 51-55, F
We are not all bad. Do you believe that people in North Korea and Russia are bad?
HeidiA · 41-45, F
@tobynshorty Not at all, but it’s your job to make sure nutters who can’t keep a casino profitable aren’t given the whitehouse. And you failed. One term is excusable, but a second?
tobynshorty · 51-55, F
@HeidiA I didn’t fail. I didn’t vote for him. I understand worldwide frustration but it is only going to come back on the poor people of the US.😕
HeidiA · 41-45, F
@tobynshorty It’s not over. If you work together you can apply pressure. You’re his employer after all. In large enough numbers you can achieve anything.
I can't honestly remember the last time I bought anything American (knowing it was American, at any rate)
1490wayb · 56-60, M
you definitely need to buy as much as you can made in your country...is it true your economy is bleak??
manly · 46-50, M
A large percentage of the 77 million who voted for 🍊 Genius think he's also 🍊 Jesus 😔
MasterLee · 56-60, M
@manly no thats the libs
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
politics are so boring, like here we are talking about things we do not influence, getting upset about things that no one here did, and things that will eventually change back to normal in just a little while.
@MartinTheFirst And??

If you've nothing to offer .. maybe just don't. 🤷🏻
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@BrandNewMan I think I offered a lot right there
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
Percentages don’t matter. Only the amount of power matters. There’s over a billion Chinese , but only 20 million Jews . Which group is more important globally?
BlueVeins · 22-25
We have become arrogant and we must suffer.
dale74 · M
@BlueVeins we became arrogant the United States has been arrogant for the last 50 years or longer
HeidiA · 41-45, F
@BlueVeins Not you, more the people currently sitting in power.
BlueVeins · 22-25
@HeidiA We're the ones who put them there, over and over again. We have lost our sense of direction. Pain will be our teacher.

Its so overdue. When America raises prices to allegedly pay its bills. Everyone will just buy from someone else. Simple economics really.
exchrist · 31-35
Also American products arent good enough to warrant paying much if any more.
MasterLee · 56-60, M
They can start paying for their own defense then
durinsBane1983 · 46-50, M
maybe you need reminding that you're using an american website.
