canadian here...i'm pretty sure many americans don't agree with what trump is doing. sad part is we've been allies and their biggest trading partner, but one man has to change all that and still can't make up his mind. in all honesty i like the american people and i've been all over the states. not sure if or when i'll go back. what pisses me off is canada had to spend over a billion dollars on border security because us officials intercepted not even 50 lbs of fentanyl last year....sick and tired of trump blaming canada for their drug problem....maybe they should spend a billion so their guns and cocaine and whatnot doesn't come up here

@beermeplease Now that Americans can see how Canada has been applying tariffs on the US, most are agreeing with these tariffs. Unless of course you watch some failing left newscast for your info. It doesn't matter what happens they are anti-American and globalists. The fact is, Canada will need to drop their high tariffs. If not, you'll not the same access to sell into the US as the US has to sell...say agricultural goods into Canada.
As for the drug problems, tough. Spend it and spend it now or face the consequences. You're sick and tired of Trump doing something to fix the problem, yet Canada still allows it to flow through. We're sick and tired of Canada sitting on their butts and watching it happen. So instead of paying to fix it, you'll pay through tariffs. Pretty stupid if you ask me, but then.....its Canada.
Good luck with that.

@carpediem oh stop it ffs

@beermeplease Excellent rebuttal ... 🤣

@beermeplease How is it being a "good trade partner" to be lopsided with what Canada applies being higher nearly across the board? Canada is more reasonable than the rest of the world in that regard, so even more egregious on their part.
Not wild about how its been done, but will not apologize for it being put forward. We should not be expected to be a doormat to the rest of the world.

@beermeplease The funny thing is, when people go from Canada to the US, they go through US Customs, so the drugs going South has nothing to do with us up here. Maybe the US should spend some money and upgrade their border crossings.
BrandNewMan · M
@JamesBugman You would try to just straight up walk it through, wouldn't you?

@BrandNewMan Do you think there is a Canadian standing in the American border crossing booth?

@beermeplease you are incorrect but not your fault. Your "news" is even more regulated than here
beermeplease · M
@MasterLee even your own customs and border services will report what i said about fentanyl......not fake news.....you don't hear our leaders whining about whatever illegal substances comes north do you? we just deal with it, as you should too
FoolishLuna · 56-60, F
@carpediem this will be a tough time for Canada but we will broaden our trading partners and increase our defence spending. Until that menace is out of the White House Canada and uSa relations are over. I pray your country can keep its democracy before that narcissistic man ruins it and hands it all over to big Brother Russia. You keep drinking the cool aid he feeds you. The days of American exceptionalism are over and everyone around the world sees it and at least half your own country does. It’s so much bigger than Tariffs. You might want to see how he based the tariffs🙄 oh and don’t forget the penguins🤷♀
carpediem · 61-69, M
@FoolishLuna Well you are entitled to your opinion. I see it exactly the opposite. Globalization and tariffs by countries taking advantage of the US, like CANADA, have ruined our manufacturing sector. A realignment is happening. Canada is in trouble and you know it. Drop your tariffs or deal with the consequences.
FoolishLuna · 56-60, F
@carpediem well I can’t wait for all the American workers to start screwing tiny little phones together as per your commerce secretary Lutnick has suggested good luck with that! Your president has established zero policy in he is playing God and finding out that countries know he is not holding the cards. Hope you don’t have a stock portfolio you need to use any time soon. I sure hope China breaks him in two … and he is dreaming if you think factory jobs are coming back to the USA. Americans are in for some very dark days if this trade escaped goes on much longer. At least my country stands united. Yours is on the verge of a civil war!
MasterLee · 56-60, M
@FoolishLuna keep telling yourself that
FoolishLuna · 56-60, F
@MasterLee writing is on the wall and Wall Street. Let’s hope your congress and house leaders grow a set.
MasterLee · 56-60, M
@FoolishLuna we have hoped that for years
carpediem · 61-69, M
@FoolishLuna You're quite the bitter person aren't you? I do have a comfortable stock portfolio thank you very much. But I'm far from the type of person who panics when the market takes a dip. In fact, I am greatly expanding my portfolio as I see great opportunities in today's market.
China won't "break him in two". LOL. China can't survive without access to the largest consumer market on the globe. They don't consume domestically. They are exporters. Factory jobs will return to the US if this move continues. The globalization experiment was an abject failure. Our "friends" like Canada, have been screwing the US for decades. Just look at the tariffs Canada has on US agricultural goods. It's time to pay the piper. Also, it's time for the slackers (Canada) to spend for defense. The US is not your free guardian. At least not any longer. Pay what you owe to NATO and expand it to 5% of GDP.
Clearly Trump has triggered slackers around the globe. They whine and cry like little children who lost their television privileges because of naughty behavior......LOL. The only people going off the rails here are leftist nutjobs.

@carpediemAnd you live in a very small world…. America is 4.2% of the population of the world. You might want to start looking at the geopolitical side of things and maybe dig in to your Mr. Trump’s background and all of his escapades. I hope you like the fact that your constitution that you all love is going to get ripped up and you’re going to be kissing the ring of a moron. Well, you all work in plants at about two bucks an hour screwing little screws in the back of iPhones.
But time will tell. As the market goes into a bear market and closes down again and China will not back down. The world is laughing at America.

MasterLee · 56-60, M
@FoolishLuna no problem.
carpediem · 61-69, M
@FoolishLuna The world isn't laughing. The world is crapping their collective pants. Trump holds all the cards. What planet are you from by the way? Earth? The rest of the world has been screwing the US over since WW2 with tariffs. And that especially includes those deadbeats to the north. Sorry you're so butt hurt over all this. Get used to it. The free ride is over.
carpediem · 61-69, M
@MasterLee The left will grab onto anything they can to whine and complain. I agree these tariffs are shaking up the world markets. And THAT is what I voted for. Let them cry. In the end, the US will come out miles ahead and slacker countries, like say.... CANADA, will learn a valuable lesson.
