Sometimes, Americans need reminding that they’re only 4% of the people. And the other 96% are starting to get pretty tired of them acting up.

No wonder people are looking for alternative brands to US products and switching off to events over there.

Lol .. Every place all the smug posts come from have their own problems. Save me the sanctimonious b.s. - including the sniveling apologetic responses from those here.

UK had higher tariffs, and VAT on top for many, on US goods, this is just intended to even that out. Nothing more. You don't like it .. renegotiate. UK is not being mistreated, just treated in kind.

@BrandNewMan No thanks. We’ll trade with China. It’s cheaper. 🙃

@HeidiA LOL... you do that.

@carpediem I intend to. Better products, cheaper prices.
@BrandNewMan Meanwhile, the truth is DJT has betrayed all of our friends and allies--he has SQUANDERED our power to only destroy us.

How's that "no collusion with Russia" looking now, Boris?

@BrandNewMan America has a trade surplus in manufactured goods with the UK, so according to Trumpian economics it is the USA that is raping and pillaging the UK economy. The weighted balance of tariffs is 4%, much lower than the 10% now imposed by America. VAT is a tax on the sale of any goods in the UK by all companies with a turnover of more than £85K . . why should American companies be exempt?
@SunshineGirl Is the US charging the UK a VAT? No.

Were UK tariff's higher than the US applied? Yes.

The UK is free to negotiate new arrangements. Am guessing the same applies elsewhere.

Its called change .. its been needed for decades.

@BrandNewMan You have state sales taxes which apply to UK companies selling in those jurisdictions. Why should they not be?

Trump said that the tariffs are non-negotiable, so that's the end of that 🤷‍♀
@SunshineGirl State sales taxes are half or less of most EU VATs.

We'll see.

@BrandNewMan The important point is that they are not protectionist tariffs aimed at excluding international trade, as Trump implies . . they are applied equally to all businesses.
