I had a break up once that felt like a divorce. I did not want to start over. My dad died around the same time which was devastating. Then my pet died…. It was a lot for six months and I feel like it changed my whole psychology. I don’t think I’ve been through it “all”. My parents surely had a tougher life but handled it with much more grace.

Nah, not a divorce.
Elder son in a wheelchair due to spinal cord injury
mother in law died
Wife died
Cancer scare for me
Mother died
My 2 dogs died (at different times)
Death of younger son
There are plenty who have it a lot harder.
Besides, I’m an optimist. I don’t always get it but I expect good things to happen.
In reality I know that’s not always going to happen but that’s just life
I believe we have to live it the best we can regardless of any shit that happens.

No. It wasn't the best experience but getting divorced was still one of the best things I ever did. But I don't think it equates to many other people's experiences

No. I was widowed and lost a child, which was hard enough. But I’m well aware that people have gone through even worse.
Luckily, it’s not a contest.

No. You know what I also don't do? I don't turn trauma into a competition. I don't shame people who have been hurt because other people have been hurt. That's what this question feels like.

No but I've been through enough.
Life has this nasty way of showing that negative experiences are always a possibly and there’s no point that ever defines having been through it all. Until you die. Lol….. maybe not even then.

‘Just because’ in the question sounds so sarcastic.
