Do you find it rude when you politely hand money to a cashier yet they put your change on the counter?

It's always a certain people group too.

I guess they're afraid they might catch some melanin if their hand comes in contact with mine 💁🏽‍♀️

Silly rabbits

I don't even remember when was the last time I paid in cash.
@CrazyMusicLover I never use my debit .
. I just pay off my card every month to avoid interest charges 🙌
Lots of good benefits with mine from free lounge access when travelling, trip interruption, grocery points or airline travel points .

@Delightfulydelectablydelicious Yeah, a credit card makes more sense if you book hotels a lot.
@CrazyMusicLover Yeah and I hate debit transaction fees 😬. lol
Plus to much information attached to your debit card, risky if stolen

I don’t notice but they’re probably scared to catch germs. Physical money is one of dirtiest things to touch, that’s why I barely use it , I mostly pay with my card.
rosyhills · 31-35, F
@deadteddy germs are everywhere though

i dont care/notice what people do when i hand them money but im also white so there are some aggressions i will not experience in my life
It happens - I very rarely use cash these days but occasionally a cashier would put the change on the counter rather than into my hand and then it's a pain to pick it up and seems to take ages to get all the coins under control! I just assumed they were germ-phobic and didn't like the thought of touching others.

They may have to; it could be a part of a hygiene protocol. Not necessarily melanin-related.

@helenS hygiene protocol? mmkay

Whatever happened t the old way when the cashiers counted the change as they put it in our hand?
reflectingmonkey · 51-55, M
I know in Japan its custom to put the money on the counter, putting it in their hand is perceived as rude. I think its because money is considered dirty because many people touch it. being from north america I do prefer if they put it in my hand just because its faster than having to pick it up, especially if there is a lot of change.
rosyhills · 31-35, F
@reflectingmonkey I understand that. This did not happen in Japan. "Money is dirty". Ok, but the cashier still has to handle it in some way so I don't see that as valid.

This is very old school racist behavior.
GuyWithOpinions · 31-35, M
I never really thought about it. I guess it depends whatour hands are doing at the moment. If the cashier is busy typing i just put it on the counter. If he has his hand out waiting for money then i put it in his hand. 🤷‍♂️. I care more about the change being correct than how its handed.
th3r0n · 41-45, M
I think the middle eastern people feel that same way about the "silly rabbits" you mentioned who lack melanin, as they often set the change on the counter when dealing with said rabbits
th3r0n · 41-45, M
(yes I know that silly rabbits included me, I just don't care because as a reborn Christian I am no longer the life that was born in this flesh)
I might prefer it just because there are times when people’s hands would linger along my own, and that’s always weird. Just hand the money over without the caress. 😂
Jenny1234 · 51-55, F
Yes that’s rude

The thing that bothers me the most though is when they don’t say, thank you.
BeJeweled · F
Ive had cashiers put the change in my hand and on the counter. I prefer it on the counter.
Good cash handling so you can't claim you paid an alternative amount.
KingofBones1 · 46-50, M
I find it in polite when the cashier doesn't hand me all the money in the drawer LOL
smiler2012 · 56-60
@rosyhills find it strange more than rude perhaps you have a point they want no contact
Iwillwait · M
I see people do this for "counting out," reasons.
rosyhills · 31-35, F
@Iwillwait I gave a $20 and received a $10 back...
ScarletWitch · 26-30, F
Ill only do that if they do it to me first
I usually hold out my hand when receiving change 😊
Is it a common occurance? I hardly use cash these days but prefer when they don't touch me tbh. Less germs.
rosyhills · 31-35, F
@V00doo common enough for me to notice.
