Breakfast wars: What’s better: Waffle or Pancakes?

Are waffles an American thing? I don't think I've ever had them and pancakes, well they are a bit meh unless drowned in lemon and honey.

Neither are really a breakfast thing where I'm from,but I've liked both when visiting the U.S.

I’m feeling bad for pancakes right now.

Waffles. The texture of the crispy exterior and light, fluffy interior makes it better than the more uniform pancake.

Waffles hands down. Crispy, soft interior, more flavor, has little squares that work as condiment condos for maximum syrup or jam retention.

Pancakes are mushy, bland and boring. Bad textrue, flat on flavor. Then you add syrup or jam and they turn to wet sponges They seem mkre like something that someone screwed up than something intentional.

Waffles have soul.

Waffles... but who wants to clean the waffle iron?

French Toast is superior to both.
