Are waffles an American thing? I don't think I've ever had them and pancakes, well they are a bit meh unless drowned in lemon and honey.

@PatientlyWaiting25 lemon on pancakes? 😳
PatientlyWaiting25 · 46-50, F
@Temporallube you don't do that? Maybe that's a British thing then.

@PatientlyWaiting25 are you referring to crepes or actual pancakes?

@TAReturns I make them small and thick, scotch pancakes we call them.

@PatientlyWaiting25 sounds yummy.
I’m surprised waffles never caught on there. Americans swear by them. But there’s also plenty of pancake fans

@TAReturns I prefer savory things, I've seen them on menus but never had them.

Waffles are originally from Belgium and France, where they have a rich history and many regional varieties. They evolved from ancient Greek flat cakes called obelios, which were cooked between metal plates.
